Steven and Phoebe Chapter 13

The next morning, Phoebe was still in the woods with her book open. Suddenly, she heard something in the bushes: It was Dexter, and he was holding a plasma cannon!
"Don't run." He said. "Don't make me shoot you. You were very expensive." He was scaring Phoebe.
"I'm waiting." She said.
"For what?" Dexter asked.
"For family." She replied.
"Ah, you don't have one. I created you."
"Maybe, I could..."
"You were built to destroy. You will never belong. Now come quietly and we'll depart."
Phoebe ran back to Steven's house.
"No, don't run!" Shouted Dexter. He chased after Phoebe.

Meanwhile, at the Universe residence, Evan was waiting for Tabes to pick up Steven. He saw Steven walk slowly out of his room.
"Good morning, Steven." Evan said to Steven. "I didn't hear you wake up. Where's Phoebe?"
"She ran away." Said Steven in a mournful tone. "It's good that she ran away. She never wanted to be here anyway."
"Steven," Said Evan in a fatherly tone. "Sometimes we have to let go of things for the better." Their conversation was cut short when Evan heard a knock on the front door. He was afraid it would be Tabes.
"Evan!" It was Fionna. "I think I found the right job for you! It's at Old Man Utonium's store, but we have to be quick!"
"Thinks are finally turning around!" Said Evan. "Steven, be a good boy and stay home." Evan and Steven ran out the store to the Beach City Plaza.
"How can I repay you, Fionna?" Asked Evan.
"How does a date sound?" She replied. As soon as they left, Phoebe made it back to Steven's house, with Dexter following her.
"Phoebe?" Asked Steven upon her arrival. "What is it?" Phoebe gestured her to be quiet. Dexter made it into Steven's house.
"Hiding behind your friend won't work anymore!" He said. "Didn't I tell you? We got fired this morning. New rules."
Phoebe placed Steven in the kitchen so he wouldn't get hurt. Dexter shot a plasma ball at Phoebe, but she managed to grab it. It was hot, so she threw it at Dexter's face, knocking him into a record player. Betty and the Jets started playing.
"Oh, I love this song!" Replied Dexter.
"What are we going to do?" Asked Steven. He and Phoebe went to the garage to implant a stink bomb in Voodoo Guy.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Said Dexter, trying to find Phoebe. Suddenly, a roller skate with Voodoo Guy strapped on was pushed towards Dexter. "What the?" He said, until the doll exploded. Phoebe was walking on the ceiling of the kitchen, the same room where Dexter landed.
"C'mon, what's the big deal?" Asked Dexter. Phoebe spoke in a language hard to decipher.
"I can put you back together again." Replied Dexter, grabbing some plates. "I will make you taller and not so fluffy."
"I like fluffy!" Said Phoebe. Dexter was throwing plates at the ceiling, trying to hit Phoebe, and they broke through the roof.

Outside the house, Eddward was horrified with what was going on inside.
"No!!!" He shouted.

Dexter made a hole in the roof from trying to hit Phoebe with plates. Before she fell down to the floor, Phoebe muttered something again in an alien language.
"Leave my mother out of this!" Replied Dexter. When he walked over to the pile of rubble, Steven ran to Dexter and whacked him with a newspaper.
"No!" He shouted. Phoebe then came out of the rubble and threw Dexter through a glass window.
"Quick, follow me!" Said Steven, about to open the back door, but when he opened the door, Double D appeared and said "You're alive!"
"They're all over the place!" Steven yelled, as he shut the door. Suddenly, Dexter came into the door holding a large Swiss Army knife.
"Running away?" He asked. "Here, let me stop you!" Double D opened the door to stop Dexter, but closed it to avoid getting skewered.
"You always get in the way!" Yelled Dexter.
"Where's the boy?" Asked Eddward. Steven was calling Dana Tabes about the situation going on at his house.
"Hello, Dana Tabes?" He said. "Aliens are attacking my house."
"No, we're not aliens!" Shouted Double D, as he ran to the phone. Suddenly, Phoebe broke through the wall holding a car.
"Blue punch buggie!" She said, whacking Dexter with the car, sending him flying to Evan's room, destroying his Samurai Jack poster. "No punch back!" Phoebe threw the car at Dexter.
"They want my cat!" Steven said to Tabes.
"There's no need to alert the authorities!" Screamed Double D. He took the phone and said "Everything's under control."
"Steven, who was that?" Asked Tabes.
"Oh good, my cat found the chainsaw." Replied Steven.
"Steven! Don't hang up!" Commanded Tabes, but Steven dropped the phone. Phoebe held the chainsaw above her head, laughing maniacally. She was about to attack Dexter, but he threw a toilet plunger at her head. When she fell down, Phoebe saw the plasma cannon and fired it, but Dexter clogged it with a tangelo.
"You shouldn't play with guns." Said Dexter. Phoebe gave the gun back to Dexter.
"I remember, it's your birthday!" Said Dexter, giving the gun back to Phoebe.
"Merry Christmas!" Said Phoebe, giving it back to Dexter.
"It's not Christmas." Said Dexter.
"Happy Hanukkah!" Said Phoebe. While she and Dexter continuously passed the gun back and forth, Double D grabbed Steven and ran out of the house.

"This isn't going to end well!" Said Double D.
"But what about Phoebe?" Steven asked.

When the game of hot potato ended, Dexter held the overloaded gun with victory and said "Ha-ha! I win!" Then the gun exploded and destroyed the house.

Evan has a Samurai Jack poster in his bedroom like how Nani had a Mulan poster in her bedroom.

The tangelo is a nod to the hilarious Billy and Mandy episode 'Attack of the Clowns', in which Billy becomes afraid of clowns. At one point, a tangelo salesman tells Billy that clowns hate tangelos, and Billy puts tangelos all over his body.
