Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 6

Back in Kanto, Blue has defeated another Trainer who was fighting for the Earth Badge.

“I thought you used Ground-Type Pokémon!” Said the Trainer.

“That was the old leader!” Said Blue. “I, on the other hand, use Pokémon of different Types, and the only Trainer who can defeat me is…” He was interrupted by a phone call. “Hello?”

“This is Lance of the Elite Four, or at least, before I became Champion.”  Said the voice. “Giovanni has captured Kyogre, and you and Red have been assigned to track him down and rescue Kyogre! Got it?”

“Crystal clear!” Replied Blue. “I'll get Blue as soon as I can!” Blue then hung up and spoke to the kid. “Sorry, kid. The Viridian Gym will be closed until further notice.” He then ran outside to find Blue.

------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in Hoenn, Giovanni and Archie have arrived at the west entrance to Rusturf Tunnel.

“Groudon lives in a cave within a cave, huh?” Said Giovanni. “And that cave happens to be Rusturf Tunnel, which is inhabited by nothing but Whismur, a Pokémon that emits a powerful cry when danger is near. How should we get rid of them?”

“I’ll handle this, boss.” Said Archie, sending out Whiscash. “Whiscash, use Surf!” Whiscash summoned a tidal wave that flooded the whole cave and washed out the Whismur to Verdanturf Town.

“That was easy.” Said Giovanni, and he, Archie, and Whiscash went inside the cave. “You said the northernmost reaches of the tunnel, Archie?”

“Yes.” He replied. “Over there, to be precise.” He pointed to the northernmost section of the tunnel. They walked over to the section, and Giovanni sent out Rhyperior.

“Rhyperior!” He commanded. “Use Hammer Arm!” Rhyperior swung his mighty arm at the wall and broke it apart, and a mighty roar could be heard from inside.

“That must be Groudon.” Said Archie. “I’ll use Whiscash for this battle.” They went inside the cave and saw Groudon, who was angry for being awakened.

“Whiscash!” Said Archie. “Use Muddy Water!” Whiscash shot muddy water at Groudon, dealing a substantial amount of damage to the Continent Pokémon. Groudon used Slash on Whiscash, but the Whiskers Pokémon endured the hit.

“Whiscash!” Said Archie. “Use Aqua Tail!” Whiscash swung its tail as if it were a vicious wave in a raging storm, making Groudon faint.

“Now’s our chance!” Said Giovanni. “Throw a Dusk Ball!” Archie threw a Dusk Ball at Groudon, and after a few seconds, the Ball clicked.

“Is it me, or are Legendaries becoming easier to catch?” Archie asked.

“Who cares?” Asked Giovanni. “Our next stop is the Max Lair, but we’ll need another Trainer to tag along. We’ll need Lysandre to track down Xerneas.”

-------------------------------------------------------------

Joe had finally arrived at the Union Cave in Johto. Because Trainers can be unpredictable, he kept a laptop in his backpack with it’s own Pokémon Storage System pre-programmed so Trainers don’t have to keep going to Pokémon Centers. After lots of spelunking and fighting more Trainers, Joe noticed a Lapras eating the remains of a Krabby 40 feet away. He quietly pulled out Bibarel and rode it towards the Transport Pokémon.

“Don’t worry, Lapras.” Joe assured. “I won’t hurt you. I will throw a Quick Ball at you, and you will be my partner. We need to fight people who use Pokémon for evil. Do you want to join us?” After hesitating for a while, Lapras nodded its head yes.

“Great!” Said Joe, throwing the Ball at Lapras. After a few seconds of wobbling, the Quick Ball clicked, and Lapras was caught.

“Fantastic!” Exclaimed Joe. “Now to escape.” Joe pulled out an Escape Rope, which was long enough to reach an exit out of the cave. Once he got out, Joe pulled out his list.

“Let’s see.” Joe said to himself. “Talonflame? Check! Crawdaunt? I probably won’t be needing it, but check! Dedenne? After a lot of searching, check! Medicham? Soon to be check. Gogoat? Check! Aggron? I have Aron. Lapras? Check! Shiftry? I have Seedot. Quagsire? Not check. While I can always catch a Wooper, it’s more convenient to catch a Quagsire fully evolved, and I can always breed him/her with another Pokémon to get a Wooper egg later. Our next stop will be Route 14 in Kalos!” Joe sent out Talonflame and flew to his next location.

Author's Note: In Pokémon Gold and Silver, as well as the remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver, if players enter the Union Cave on Fridays, they'll encounter a lone Lapras at Level 20.

Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 5

Joe has just got out of Glittering Cave and caught five Pokémon: Machop, Solrock, Lunatone, Kangaskhan, and Rhyhorn. He pulled out the list from a few days ago and looked at it. On the list, there was a section that said ‘Ideal Team’- Talonflame, Gogoat, Crawdaunt, Dedenne, Medicham, and Aggron.

“Let’s see.” Joe said to himself. “I’ve got Fletchinder, Skiddo, Crawdaunt, and Meditite. Dedenne can be caught in Route 11, and Aron can be caught in Terminus Cave. However, Aron in Kalos have very low encounter rates, so we’ll have to go to Hoenn to catch Aron and raise it to be an Aggron. First thing’s first, though, we have to go to Route 10 to catch some Pokémon, and then Geosenge Town to rest for the night.” Joe sent out Skiddo to ride on the rocks that surrounded the cave.

-----------------------------------------

Later that night, Giovanni and Archie arrived at Sootopolis City with the help of Archie’s Sharpedo. However, the entrance to the Cave of Origin was sealed off.

“The entrance is sealed off.” Said Giovanni. “We’ll have to go in through the top.” The villains then walked over to the very top of the cave’s entrance and sent out Dugtrio.

“Dugtrio!” Said Giovanni. “Use Dig!” Dugtrio dug a hole into the ground, creating an alternate entrance into the Cave of Origin. Giovanni and Archie went inside and found Kyogre sleeping underneath. Dugtrio’s digging, however, woke up Kyogre, and it was ready to fight.

“I’ll handle this, Giovanni!” Said Archie. “Go, Ludicolo!” Ludicolo was sent out. Kyogre used Body Slam on the Carefree Pokémon, doing a good amount of damage.

“Ludicolo!” Said Archie. “Use Giga Drain!” Ludicolo planted a seed on Kyogre that drained nutrients out of the Sea Basin Pokémon and restored  Ludicolo’s health. Kyogre tried using Body Slam, but Ludicolo dodged it.

“Ludicolo!” Said Archie. “Use Energy Ball!” Ludicolo drew power from nature and fired it at Kyogre. The Water-Type Legendary was starting to feel weak.

“Now’s your chance!” Said Giovanni. “Throw one of the Dive Balls we stole!” Archie threw a Dive Ball at Kyogre, and after a few seconds of wobbling, the Ball clicked.

“Great!” Said Giovanni. “I’m just concerned that we might have caused too much attention.” The entrance broke apart to reveal more cops.

“Halt!” Said a cop. “You two are under arrest for stealing the Azure Flute and knocking out Kyogre!”

“Do you have to fight these cops, too, boss?” Archie asked Giovanni.

“No.” He said. “Dugtrio, use Dig again to get us out of here!” Dugtrio dug through the ground and helped the villains escape. The hole Dugtrio made caused the cave to fill up with water, and the cops started fleeing. Luckily, Giovanni and Archie were protected by Archie’s Lanturn, which had the Ability Water Absorb.

“Next stop, Terra Cave!” Giovanni announced, and they escaped out of the flooding tunnels to reach dry land.

-------------------------------------------------------

It was the next morning, and Joe slept in a house in Petalberg City, Hoenn, where he caught an Aron, Sableye, and Seedot. He was awoken by someone bursting into the house.

“Go inside the Pokémon Center!” He said. “The Azure Flute and Kyogre have been stolen!” Joe woke up, had his shower, got dressed, and hurried over to the Pokémon Center to hear the news. Everyone inside the Center was watching PNN, where news reporter Gabby was on the screen.

“This is a PNN special report!” She said. “Last night, the Water-Type Legendary Kyogre had been stolen by two men who look a lot like Team Rocket leader Giovanni and Team Aqua leader Archie. There have also been reports of the Azure Flute stolen by the same duo. The Azure Flute, as you all know, is a rare artifact that is said to summon the creator of the entire Pokémon Universe, Arceus. With these powerful Pokémon, these criminals will be unstoppable. So far, veteran trainers Red and Blue have volunteered to help stop these crooks and rescue the Legendaries! We’re counting on you, Red and Blue! This is Gabby, signing off.”

“This is horrible!” Said a citizen. “How will we survive?”

“Don’t worry!” Said another citizen. “Red and Blue will save the day!”

“I can sense something bad happening.” Joe said out loud, getting out his Pokémon list. “If Giovanni and Maxie are teaming up, the others might not be too behind. Ghetsis basically gave up after being foiled twice and became the new Gym Leader of Mahogany Town, Johto, and Cyrus got arrested for life for capturing Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie and threatening to destroy time and space itself. Speaking of Johto, what day is it?”

“Uh, Friday?” Answered a citizen.

“Great!” Said Joe. “Starting with Lapras, I’ll catch Pokémon needed to take down Giovanni, Archie, and if they’re showing up, Maxie and Lysandre! It’s said that one Lapras will appear in the Union Cave on Friday to feed on Krabby and Goldeen. Whether it’s true or not, no one really knows, but I’ll try.” After having breakfast, Joe got out Talonflame, who evolved from Fletchinder yesterday, and flew to Johto to find Lapras.

Author's Notes: What I said about Ghetsis becoming the Gym Leader of Mahogany Town isn't true, but I'd imagine something like that to happen because the real Gym Leader of Mahogany Town, Pryce, who uses Ice-Type Pokémon, is getting a little old for battles. Heck, in the Pokémon Adventures manga, he's even too old to walk!

Gabby is a news reporter players can fight in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as the remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. She and her cameraman Ty travel Hoenn to find tough Trainers, and they fight using a Magmemite and a Whismur, both of which eventually evolve into their final forms.

Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 4

It was the next morning in Cyllage City, and Joe had already registered 18 Pokémon species. His party now consisted of Fletchinder, Linoone, Corphish (which he caught on Route 22), Skiddo (which he caught on Route 5), Meditite, and Axew (which he both caught in Connecting Cave). Joe got out of the hotel he was resting at and continued on his journey. However, Meditite started acting up.

“What’s wrong, Meditite?” Joe asked the Meditate Pokémon. He then looked at the Pokedex app on his cell phone and read Meditite’s entry.

“‘Meditite.” Joe started reading. The Meditate Pokémon. Meditite undertakes rigorous mental training deep in the mountains. However, whenever it meditates, this Pokémon always loses its concentration and focus. As a result, its training never ends.’ Oh, that’s why she’s acting up! You should stay at the Daycare Center until you evolve into Medicham. How would you like that?” Meditite shook her head in agreement. “Then it’s settled! Let’s go back to Route 7 and have the Daycare Couple train you until you’re close to evolution.” Joe got out his bicycle and rode it to Route 7. When he got to the Daycare Center, the Center’s husband greeted him.

“Hello, and welcome to the Kalos Pokémon Daycare Center! I am the co-owner of the facility, and my wife and I can raise a Pokémon for you! Would you like us to raise a Pokémon for a while?”

“Yes, please!” Said Joe. “Meditite, from what I read, prefers quiet environments, and this meadow is quite tranquil.”

“Great!” Said the Daycare Man, and Joe handed Meditite to him. “How much will it cost?”

“When Meditite reaches Level 36,” The Daycare Man explained. “You can have your Pokémon back. We’ll call you when the time comes. As for the price, we’ll discuss it later.”

“Okay!” Said Joe. “Bye, Meditite! I’ll be back as soon as I can!” Joe rode the bicycle to his next destination: Route 9.

---------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in Sinnoh, Giovanni and Archie made it to Celestic Town. They went inside the church, which had statues of Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus. The Azure Flute was inside a glass display, which could only be broken by brute force. Giovanni sent out Nidoking to shatter the display.

“Nidoking!” He said. “Use Mega Punch!” Nidoking lifted its mighty arm and swung it across the display, shattering the glass. This also caused an alarm to go off. Police officers came in and cornered Giovanni and Archie.

“Put your hands up!” Said an officer. “You’re under arrest for attempted robbery!”

“We’re not going down without a fight!” Said Archie.

“Very well.” Said the officer. “Go, Alakazam!” Alakazam was sent out.

“Nidoking, return!” Said Giovanni, returning the Drill Pokémon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Honchkrow!” Honchkrow was sent out.

“Honchkrow!” Giovanni commanded. “Use Foul Play!” Honchkrow turned Alakazam’s power against it, dealing so much damage that it made the PSI Pokémon faint.

“You’re strong.” Said the police officer, returning Alakazam to his Poke Ball. “Luckily the next cop is stronger!” Another cop approached Giovanni and sent out a Duraludon.

“Ah, a Steel-Type Pokémon.” Said Giovanni, returning Honchkrow to his Poke Ball. “Good thing I specialize in Ground! Go, Dugtrio!” Dugtrio was sent out.

“Dugtrio!” Giovanni commanded. “Use Earthquake!” Dugtrio shook the ground violently, causing Duraladon to lose half its HP.

“Duraludon!” Said the second officer. “Use Dragon Claw!” Duraludon tried to scratch Dugtrio with his heavy claws, but the Mole Pokémon dodged them.

“Dugtrio!” Said Giovanni “Use Mud Bomb!” Dugtrio launched a hard-packed ball of mud at Duraludon, and the Alloy Pokémon fainted.

“You’re stronger than I thought.” Said the second officer, returning Duraludon to his Poke Ball. “Luckily for us, our next officer has a Pseudo-Legendary!” Another cop approached Giovanni and sent out a Goodra.

“I’ll take care of this slug-dragon thing!” Said Archie, while Giovanni returned Dugtrio to his Poke Ball. “Go, Sharpedo!” Sharpedo was sent out.

“Sharpedo!” Said Archie. “Use Ice Fang!” Sharpedo bit Goodra with ice-cold fangs, causing Goodra to lose half his HP.

“Goodra!” Said the third cop. “Use Power Whip!” Goodra hit Sharpedo with its large tail, causing a substantial amount of damage. Luckily, Goodra got damaged from Sharpedo’s Rough Skin.

“Sharpedo!” Said Archie. “Use Ice Fang again!” Shapredo bit Goodra again with freezing fangs, and the Dragon Pokémon fainted.

“Your Sharpedo is looking tired.” Said the third cop, returning Goodra to his Poke Ball. “Our final cop might be able to finish it off and arrest you!” The fourth and final cop approached the villains and sent out Dragapult.

“I’ll finish Dragapult off, Archie.” Said Giovanni, while Archie returned Sharpedo to his Poke Ball. “Go, Honchkrow!” Honchkrow was sent out.

“Honchkrow!” Said Giovanni. “Use Foul Play!” Honchkrow turned Dragapult’s power against it, making it lose half her HP.

“Dragapult!” Said the fourth cop. “Use Dragon Darts!” Dragapult shot Honchkrow twice with her Dreepy, which returned to the Stealth Pokémon after hitting Honchkrow.

“Honchkrow!” Said Giovanni. “Use Dark Pulse!” Honchkrow released a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts at Dragapult, and the Stealth Pokémon fainted. Archie sent out Pelipper and flew off with him, and Giovanni followed with Honchkrow in pursuit with the Azure Flute in hand.

“Are we awakening Arceus soon?” Archie asked.

“No!” Giovanni replied. “We’ll save the best for last. Our first stop is the Cave of Origin in Sootopolis City to catch Kyogre. But first, however, we need to heal our Pokémon. Luckily, there’s an old woman on Route 111 who can heal your Pokémon for you, so we won’t be spotted at a Pokémon Center and squealed on like Spoink.” Giovanni then got out his cell phone to call Maxie and Lysandre.

“Maxie! Lysandre!” He called. “How many new RR recruits did you find?”

“A lot, actually!” Replied Maxie. “It seems our evil teams have garnered followers!”

“Great!” Replied Giovanni. “Bring them to our new headquarters in Eterna Forest! Archie and I will be heading to Sootopolis City, Hoenn to awaken Kyogre!”

Author's Notes: The Azure Flute is an Item that is said to summon the powerful Mythical Pokémon, Arceus. However, it can't be obtained in the games because Game Freak thought it would be too confusing for players. Below is what the Azure Flute would look like if it was a real Item in the games.
File:Bag Azure Flute Sprite.png
The Pokémon that the cops use in this Chapter, Alakazam, Duraludon, Goodra, and Dragapult, are meant to represent Sinnohese Legendary Pokémon: Alakazam represents Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf, Duraludon represents Dialga, Goodra represents Palkia, and Dragapult represents Giratina. I didn't want to use Kingdra because Archie is going to use it later in the story, and I didn't want to use Dracovish because it, along with the other Galarian Fossil Pokémon, looks like it craves death.
Dracovish
Just look at it! They didn't even place the head on the right part of the body!
In the Pokémon video games, there's usually a husband and wife duo who work at a Pokémon Daycare. They'll raise up to two Pokémon at a time and make them stronger the longer you leave them there. If you're lucky, you might end up finding an Egg there!

Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 3

It was Joe’s second official day as a Pokémon Trainer, and he already had seven Pokémon registered on the Pokédex app and five Pokémon in his party: Vivillon, Fletchling, Zigzagoon, Pidgey, and Bidoof, all of which were Level 14, except for Bidoof who was Level 8. Joe has finally arrived in Santalune City, and Alexa was waiting for him inside a Pokémon Center. As soon as Joe got inside, Alexa greeted him.

“Hello, Joseph!” She greeted. “I was expecting you to come here! As you probably know, about 81% of all known Pokémon are capable of evolving. However, many Pokémon species only evolve when they reach a certain Level. While your parents have created a formula for Rare Candy, giving too much to a Pokémon is the equivalent of giving a human child too much junk food. That’s why modern science gave us the EXP Share Version 7, which gives EXP to every Pokémon in your party.” Alexa then pulled out a helmet-shaped item with lights and antennas on them and handed it to Joe.

“Thank you so much!” Said Joe. “But what are you doing here? I thought you lived in Lumiose City.”

“Well,” Alexa began. “I’m doing a report on how and why Roselia is depicted as a statue in Santalune. You’ll see the report in about a week in Lumiose Press or on PNN. See you soon!” Joe went to the Pokémon Center counter to heal his Pokémon and to continue his quest.

---------------------------------------------------------

Later that night, Giovanni and Archie arrived at the Lumiose City Poke Ball Boutique. As soon as the storekeeper left the building for the night, Giovanni and Archie broke into the store and looked at the Balls.

“Master Balls are very rare.” Said Giovanni. “They are best used for catching Legendary Pokémon, but since there’s only one in this store, we have to use other Balls. Kyogre is a Water-Type Pokémon, so we should steal 50 Dive Balls and 50 Net Balls. Groudon is said to live in a cave called Terra Cave, but nobody knows where it might be located.”

“Luckily, I do.” Said Archie. “It happens to be located in the northernmost reaches of Rusturf Tunnel, Hoenn. And you’ll need 50 Dusk Balls to catch this beast.”

“Correct!” Said Giovanni. “As for Xerneas, it, along with Yveltal, disappeared after the Team Flare incident, but there is one location where nearly every Legendary can be found, but there’s a catch: They’ve gotten huge as a result of encountering Eternatus. To catch a giant Pokémon, it would only make sense to use a Heavy Ball. There’s only one of these in the store, so we have to make it work.”

“But why not just burglarize another Poke Ball shop in another Region?” Asked Archie.

“Even evil has its limits.” Said Giovanni. “Besides, I have a Steel-Type Pokémon on hand, and Steel beats Fairy.”

“Okay.” Replied Archie. “Where will we get the Azure Flute?”

“There’s a church in Celestic Town, Sinnoh that worships Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus.” Replied Giovanni. “Inside the church is the Azure Flute on display, but

we’ll get noticed by the police when we steal it. We better bring strong Pokémon for when the time comes, and that time will be soon. Interplanetary domination will be in our grasps once we have Arceus!” Giovanni and Archie then gave out maniacal laughs.

Author's Notes: In Pokémon Emerald, players can catch both Groudon and Kyogre in the same game. Groudon can be found in the Terra Cave, while Kyogre can be caught in the Marine Cave. However, both locations travel from place to place, making them hard to locate. Here are where the Terra Cave may pop up, and Route 116 (where Rusturf Tunnel is located) is one of those places.
Hoenn Terra Cave Locations Map.png
In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as the remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, players will be able to encounter the powerful Legendaries Groudon or Kyogre (depending on the version) in the Cave of Origin, which is located in Sootopolis City.
Here are some of the Balls that Giovanni and Archie talk about in this Chapter.

Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 2

After Joseph got packed and downloaded the Pokédex App, Jade spoke to the mother of Calem, owner of the town’s pet Rhyhorn and who’s son has beaten Kalos Champion Diantha a few year’s back.

“Just promise that as soon as Joe catches some Pokémon that your son will return Rhyhorn to this town, please?” Calem’s mom asked.

“Yes, he will!” Replied Jade. “When he was younger, one of his class assignments was to evolve a Caterpie into a Butterfree, and he was the only student who evolved it without fighting, and simply let nature take its course!”

“But won’t he have to hurt a wild Pokémon in order to catch it?” Asked Calem’s mom.

“Yes, but he doesn’t mind hurting it unless it’s an endangered species.” Answered Jade. As the moms were talking, Joe ripped out a piece of paper with nearly 100 Pokémon species listed on it. He placed the paper in his bag and headed out the door.

“I’m ready to borrow Rhyhorn, mom!” He declared.

“Alright, son!” Said Jade, as Joe mounted himself on the Spikes Pokémon. He rode Rhyhorn out of town, and after a while, ended up on Route 2. As Joe got off, he encountered four different Pokémon species at the same time: Zigzagoon, Pidgey, Scatterbug, and Fletchling.

“Rhyhorn!” Commanded Joe. “Use Rock Blast!” Rhyhorn shot rocks at all four Pokémon, making them all faint.

“Great!” Said Joe. “Now to throw Poké Balls!” He threw Balls at the wild Pokémon one by one, and all of them clicked.

“Excellent!” Exclaimed Joe. “Now head home to heal these Pokémon!” Joe got on Rhyhorn’s back and rode home to return the Ground/Rock-Type Pokémon to Vaniville Town.

———————————————-

The next day, Giovanni has rounded up Archie, Maxie, and Lysandre and started a secret hideout in the Old Chateau in Eterna Forest, Sinnoh, and started discussing their plan.

“Gentlemen,” Giovanni started. “What do we all have in common?”

“We want to take over the world?” Asked Maxie.

“All our flunkies are named Grunt?” Asked Archie.

“We all get thwarted by snot-nosed kids?” Asked Lysandre.

“Bingo!” Shouted Giovanni. “And we can’t get our plans off the blueprints because why?”

“We summon the Legendaries we desire too late?” Asked Archie.

“Correct!” Shouted Giovanni. “We need to catch the Legendaries first, and I know which four to catch: Groudon, Kyogre, Xerneas, and Arceus.” Maxie then raised his hand.

“What is the plan, Giovanni?” He asked.

“We’re going to capture those said Legendaries and use them to create our own planets!” Answered Giovanni. “Archie, you want a world dedicated to only Pokémon, right?”

“Yes.” He replied.

“And Maxie,” Giovanni continued. “You want a world dedicated to only humans, right?”

“Yes.” He replied.

“And Lysandre,” Giovanni continued. “You want a world dedicated to only beauty, right?”

“Correct.” He replied.

“And with Groudon, Kyogre, Xerneas, and Arceus, we’ll accomplish all those dreams!” Giovanni concluded. “Lysandre, Maxie! Round up underlings to join our new organization, Team Rainbow Rocket! Archie, follow me! We’re going to Lumiose City to steal Poké Balls needed for our quest for interplanetary conquest!” Giovanni and Archie got out of the building, took out Honchkrow and Pelipper respectively, and flew off to Lumiose City, Kalos to execute Phase 1 of their plan.

Author's Notes: Giovanni having a Honchkrow in this story is inspired by a Murkrow (which Honchkrow evolves from) in Pokémon Gold and Silver, as well as the remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver, that gives the player the password to the Rocket Hideout (Hail Giovanni).
The Old Chateau in this story is a location in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. If the player were to enter the Chateau at night and look at a TV that was turned on by itself, they'll encounter Rotom!
In Pokémon X and Y, players can actually ride on a Rhyhorn in their hometown, though it can't be used to fight wild Pokémon.
For those unfamiliar, Calem is the male protagonist/rival in X and Y (depending on the player's gender).

Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 1

Joseph is an 18-year-old boy living in Vaniville Town, Kalos, and while other kids his age strive to be super-strong Trainers, all Joe wants is to work alongside his hero, Professor Birch. Joe's parents, Jade and Jasper, are famous for creating their own Rare Candy formula, which has been proven to be very successful and made the family very rich. Despite all this, Joe still had a secret desire to become a Pokémon Trainer with a unique and diverse team. Joe was reading a book on the lawn one day, until suddenly, his parents called him.

"Joseph!" Said a voice. It was his mom, Jade. "Come inside! We have a special visitor on the Rotom Videophone!" Joe ran inside and was baffled to see his hero, Professor Birch, on the computer screen.

"Hello there, Joe!" He said. "I've been told you appreciate my work!" Joe was just amazed.

"Yes, I am." Said Joe. "You travel the region and study the Pokémon that live there, no matter how dangerous!"

"I know." Said Birch. "I even got attacked by a Zigzagoon and a Poochyena! Luckily, my Blaziken keeps me safe." A Blaziken then faced the camera and waved. "How old are you, Joseph?"

"He's 18, now." Said Jasper.

"18, huh?" Birch asked. "And you still don't have a Pokémon with you?"

"Only a Rhyhorn from our neighbor." Replied Joe. "Besides, I'm more interested in researching Pokémon than fighting them. Not to mention that I have many books on all 898 known species!"

"Interesting." Said Birch. "How about we make a deal: If you can register 200 Pokémon species on the Pokedex app of your cell phone and beat my daughter May and her friend Brendan, you can work by my side!"

"Deal!" Said Joe. "I'll download the app, borrow our neighbor's Rhyhorn, and start catching 200 Pokémon species! But wait, can I travel to other Regions to find different species? The Friend Safari shut down after becoming a failure, and has been refurbished into Oak's Wild Kingdom, the most popular zoo in the world."

"Of course!" Said Birch. "Just make sure you catch two Pokémon compatible with Fly and Surf, and you'll be all set!"

"I won't let you down, Professor!" Said Joe, and the computer was turned off. "Mom, dad, I'm old enough. Could I have 30,000 Poke Dollars, a Fishing Rod, a Bicycle, an EXP Share, and some Poke Balls?" Jade and Jasper thought hard for a moment.

"We'll give you the money, the Rod, and 5 Poke Balls." Said Jasper. "The EXP Share, however, you'll have to get yourself. Alexa, a famous journalist, will be in Santalune City, and she'll give you an EXP Share."

"A new model that gives you EXP to every Pokémon in your party?" Asked Joe.

"The same one." Said Jade. "Now, pack your bags and get ready for your journey. We'll ask the neighbor if we can borrow her Rhyhorn."

-----------------------------------------------------------

In an apartment building in Celadon City, Kanto, Giovanni, former leader of Team Rocket who was now in his mid-50s, was lying on the couch with his Kangaskhan.

"Just look at me, Kanga." He said. "We had it all. Twice! Invading major corporations, poaching Slowpoke, and forcing Magikarp to evolve into Gyarados. But we got foiled by rookie ten-year-olds each time!  And the newer organizations aren't so lucky, either. Team Aqua, Magma, Galactic, Flare, even Plasma got thwarted by snot-nosed kids! If we rallied up the leader of each of those teams and got out four powerful Legendaries instead of just one, we'd be unstoppable." Suddenly, an idea popped up in Giovanni's head. "That's it! We all have our own goals on how we want to change the world to our liking, but with Groudon, Kyogre, Xerneas, and Arceus, we can make our own planets!" He then walked over to a metallic drawer and opened it up to reveal 5 Pokémon cryogenically frozen in separate Poke Balls.

"We're back in business, gang!" Giovanni shouted, and he gave a maniacal laugh.

Author's Notes: The scenarios Giovanni explains in this Chapter are all events that happened in the Pokémon video games. In Red and Blue, as well as the remakes FireRed and LeafGreen, Giovanni and his Team Rocket flunkies take over Silph Co. in Saffron City, and in Pokémon Gold and Silver, as well as the remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver, Team Rocket cut off the tails of Slowpoke and sell them to the black market as well as force Magikarp in Johto's Lake of Rage to evolve.
Kangaskhan is actually a Pokémon Giovanni uses in the video games, though he specializes in Ground-Type Pokémon. This was back when Kangaskhan looked like this.
As most Trainers know, when a Pokémon defeats another in battle, it gains EXP (experience points), and when a Pokémon earns enough EXP, it Levels up. With the EXP share, Pokémon can earn EXP even if they don't battle!
In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as the remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, when the player first encounters Professor Birch, he is chased by a Zigzagoon. Players have to save him with either a Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip.
In the newer Pokémon games like Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield, newer Pokedexes have been designed to be compatible with Rotom, a Ghost-Type Pokémon that can possess any electrical device. It can even possess cellphones!
Friend Safari was a location in Pokémon X and Y where you could catch Pokémon not native to Kalos, but it could only be accessed if you have real people registered on your Nintendo 3DS (which X and Y was released on).
Friend Safari XY.png
I imagine that the Friend Safari was a failure and was, instead, refurbished into a zoo.
