“I can’t believe it.” N Said in disbelief. “The Chuso League has only been around for a year, and there’s already a new Champion, and that would be you!”
“I do lots of Training.” Replied Joe.
“Well,” Said N. “As with other Regions, you should come with me.” N and Joe walked into a golden hall with a large computer in the center. “Place your Pokémon here, Joseph. Their data will be recorded into the computer.” Joe placed his Poke Balls on the computer, and it scanned each of them.
“Talonflame.” Said the Computer. “Level 60. Female. Met at Level 2 in Route 2, Kalos. Rapidash. Level 55. Male. Met at Level 36 in Glimwood Tangle, Galar. Quagsire. Level 55. Female. Met at Level 30 in Route 14, Kalos. Shiftry. Level 55. Female. Met at Level 3 in Route 102, Hoenn. Skuntank. Level 50. Female. Met at Level 21 in Route 11, Kalos. Crabominable. Level 50. Male. Met at Level 41 in Poni Wilds, Alola. Gigalith. Level 50. Male. Met at Level 22 in Reflection Cave, Kalos. Congratulations, Joseph. You’re the new Champion of Chuso.”
“How do you feel, Joseph?” N asked. “About being the new Champion of Chuso?”
“Proud, actually.” Said Joe. “I now have over a hundred individual Pokemon raised, evolved, and trained, but I have no idea what to do with them.”
“You could work at the Battle Skyscraper.” Suggested N. “It’s like the Battle Subway in Unova, but in a skyscraper.”
“Okay,” Replied Joe. “But can it wait until tomorrow? I just had five battles in a row.”

The next day, N and Joe arrived in Apricot City. They walked over to a tall building with a ‘Trainers Wanted’ sign on the front door. When they entered the building, they were greeted by a friendly secretary.
“Welcome to the Battle Skyscraper!” She greeted. “What would you like to do today?”
“I’m the new Champion of Chuso,” Joe proclaimed. “And I’m here to apply for a job at the Battle Skyscraper.”
“New Trainers are always welcome!” Exclaimed the secretary, handing Joe a pamphlet. “Here are our rules and regulations. Feel free to read them!”
“‘Rule #1.’” Joe read. “‘You can only use up to four Pokemon per battle, except for double battles in which you can use up to six Pokemon. Rule #2. Items like Potions and Revives are not allowed, but held Items are welcome. Rule #3. No Legendary Pokemon allowed except for Melmetal and Urshifu. Rule #4. No Dynamaxing or G-Maxing allowed, as it would destroy the whole building and cost millions of Poke Dollars to rebuild. And Rule #5. No Pokemon higher than Level 50.’ Does that include Pokemon that evolve at Levels higher than 50, like Dragonite, Hydreigon, and Volcarona?”
“Regrettably, yes.” Replied the secretary. “Do you still want to work here?”
“Okay.” Said Joe. “But that means I can’t use some of my favorite Pokemon, such as Talonflame, Quagsire, Shiftry, and Dragapult.”
“How many Pokemon do you own?” Asked the secretary.
“Too many to count.” Replied Joe. “As well as a grand total of 330 Pokemon registered on my Pokedex app.”
“That many?!” The secretary asked bafflingly. “Very few have trained more than 100 Pokemon. You should be proud of yourself.”
“I guess I am.” Replied Joe, who started blushing. “After I sign up, I need to pack my stuff. Are there any buildings or apartments for sale in Apricot City?”
“Actually, yes.” Replied N. “There’s a house for sale right next to the Pokemon Center.”
“Okay!” Said Joe. “I’ll be ready within a week!”

The next day, a truck arrived in the city with all of Joe’s stuff. Several Machoke came out of another truck and started carrying the furniture into the house. Joe arrived on Donphan rather than Talonflame, feeling that she’s getting a little old, and he was surprised to see the movie arrive so quickly.
“I didn’t expect them to do it so quickly.” Said Joe. “I have lots of books and DVDs from years of collecting. I don’t want them to be shattered.”
“Don’t worry, kid!” Said one of the movers. “My Machoke and I make sure that no one’s valuables get damaged. Say, aren’t you the kid who beat the Champi-N?”
“Yes.” Joe replied, disgusted by the pun. “Please don’t ever say that again.”
“I also heard that you now work at the Battle Skyscraper.” Said the mover. “Isn’t today Orientation Day?”
“Sweet Mother of Arceus!” Joe shouted. “I almost forgot! Good thing I live in the same city. C'mon, Donphan!” Joe got back on Donphan and arrived at the Battle Skyscraper. He returned Donphan to his Poke Ball, entered the building, and he encountered someone he’s never heard of before: Lucy, a Trainer from Hoenn.
“Hello, my name is Lucy.” She started. “I worked at the Battle Frontier for about a decade, but after Tate took over, I decided to look for work in other Regions. As luck would have it, Chuso has a location just like the frontier: the Battle Skyscraper! Before a Trainer officially joins the facility, he or she has to face me. Do you wanna take my challenge?”
“Okay.” Said Joe, pulling out his Laptop. “I always carry this laptop with me, since you never know what kind of Pokemon you’ll encounter. However, I won’t use the laptop for this battle, as you can only have up to four Pokemon per battle here.” Joe pulled out Charizard, Lapras, Claydol, and Togedemaru.
“Let's start the battle already!” Said Lucy. “Go, Shuckle!” Shuckle was sent out.
“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Lapras!” Lapras was sent out.
“Lapras!” Said Joe. “Use Surf!” Lapras summoned a tidal wave that should’ve knocked out Shuckle, but the Mold Pokemon had the Ability Sturdy with her, leaving her with 1 Hit Point left.
“Shuckle!” Said Lucy. “Use Rock Slide!” Shuckle threw boulders at Lapras, but because she has hideous Attack stats, it only dealt 50 Hit Points to the Transport Pokemon.
“Lapras!” Said Joe. “Use Brine!” Lapras drenched Shuckle with water, and the Mold Pokemon fainted.
“Luckily, my next Pokemon has more balanced stats.” Said Lucy, returning Shuckle to her Poke Ball. “Go, Goodra!” Goodra was sent out.
“Goodra!” Said Lucy. “Use Thunder Punch!” Goodra slugged Lapras with an electric fist, leaving the Transport Pokemon with 75% of her HP.
“Lapras!” Said Joe. “Use Blizzard!” Lapras summoned a howling blizzard towards Goodra, leaving the Dragon Pokemon with half her HP.
“Goodra!” Said Lucy. “Use Power Whip!” Goodra tried smacking Lapras with her mighty tail, but the attack missed.
“Lapras!” Said Joe. “Use Hyper Beam!” Lapras fired a powerful beam at Goodra, and the Dragon Pokemon fainted.
“Boy, you’re stronger than I thought.” Said Lucy, returning Goodra to her Poke Ball. “No wonder you’re the new Champion of Chuso. Luckily, my next Pokemon is really strong. Go, Milotic!” Milotic was sent out.
“You deserve a rest, Lapras!” Said Joe, returning the Transport Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Togedemaru!” Togedemaru was sent out.
“Togedemaru!” Said Joe. “Use Zing Zap!” A strong electric blast crashed down on Milotic, leaving the Tender Pokemon with half her HP.
“Milotic!” Said Lucy. “Use Hydro Pump!” Miltoic fired lots of water at Togedemaru, leaving the Roly-Poly Pokemon with 70% of his HP.
“Togedemaru!” Said Joe. “Use Grass Knot!” Togedemaru tripped Milotic with his spikes, and the Tender Pokemon fainted.
“I still have one more chance!” Said Lucy, returning Milotic to her Poke Ball. “Go, Seviper!” Seviper was sent out.
“That was great, Togedemaru!” Said Joe, returning the Roly-Poly Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Claydol!” Claydol was sent out.
“Claydol!” Said Joe. “Use Psychic!” Claydol hit Seviper with a strong telekinetic force, leaving the Fang Snake Pokemon with half her HP.
“Seviper!” Said Lucy. “Use Night Slash!” Seviper lashed at Claydol with her sharp tail, dealing 60 Hit Points to the Clay Doll Pokemon.
“Claydol!” Said Joe. “Use Earthquake!” Claydoll shook the floor violently, and the Fang Snake Pokemon fainted.
“Great battle, kid.” Said Lucy, returning Claydol to its Poke Ball. You’re hired. However, next time, don’t use Lapras. It’s Level 55.”
“Sorry about that.” Said Joe, returning Claydol to its Poke Ball.
“That’s okay.” Replied Lucy. “You’ll work on the 20th floor in room B107. You’ll start tomorrow. Salary will be 10,000 Poke Dollars a day.”
“Thanks so much!” Said Joe. He ran out the building to call his parents about the good news.

Back in Vaniville Town, Joe’s parents, Jade and Jasper, were in their lab making Rare Candy. However, their telephone started ringing. Jasper went to the phone and picked it up.
“Hello?” He asked into the phone.
“Dad?” It was Joe on the line.
“Joe?” Jasper asked.
“Yes, it’s me, dad.” Answered Joe. “I now have a job in Apricot City at the Battle Skyscraper. I’t s a bit like the Battle Maison back in Kalos.”
“That’s great to hear, son!” Jasper replied. “It’s great to here that you’re living on your own, but we’ll miss you.”
“That’s why I sent a prize.” Replied Joe. “My Mr. Rime had a baby with Toxtricity, and I sent their baby through mail, but it’s still an Egg. Gotta go now!” Suddenly, the two of them heard the doorbell.
“Jade, look outside!” Said Jasper. The two went to the front door and saw a Delibird with a Poke Ball in his sack. He took the Ball out and flew off to deliver more letters. Jade opened the Ball, and out came an Egg.
“What kind of Pokemon Egg is this?” She asked.
“It’s a Mime Jr. Egg.” Replied Jasper. “Joe sent it to us so we won’t get lonely.”
“How long will it take to hatch?” Asked Jade.
“About three days.” Replied Jasper. “And we’ll have fun raising him.”
“Or her.” Said Jade.
“Yes.” Said Jasper. “Or her.”

Author's Notes: The Machoke carrying Joe's Items over to the new house is an homage to how in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Machoke can be seen moving boxes of furniture into May/Brendan's new house (depending on the player's gender).
Joe riding on Donphan is inspired by Raya riding Tuk Tuk in Raya and the Last Dragon.
