Meanwhile, Ghetsis and Clyde arrived at Stow-on-Side. They saw a sign that said ‘RARE ITEMS FOR SALE’ next to a large stand with a man and a Maractus.
“Welcome to the Stow-on-Side Bargain Shop!” He said. “What can I do for you today?”
“Do you have DNA Splicers?” Asked Ghetsis.
“Only if you have a Kyurem,” Said the salesman. “Which I doubt you have!”
“But I do!” Said Ghetsis, taking out a Dusk Ball containing the Boundary Pokemon. “Do you have a more private location?”
“Actually, I do!” Said the salesman. He opened a door on the ground that led to a basement inhabited by Diglett and Dugtrio. The four of them went inside so Ghetsis could send out Kyurem and Reshiram.
“The coast is clear.” Said the salesman. “You can send out your Kyruem, though it’s probably just a Baxcalibur or something.” Ghetsis sent out both Kyurem and Reshiram, and the salesman was jaw-dropped.
“Is that…. Kyurem and Reshiram?!” He asked.
“Yes.” Replied Ghetsis. “Both of them put up quite a fight. Can I have the Splicers now?” The salesman just handed him the Splicers, grabbed Maractus, and immediately ran out of the cave. Ghetsis stuck the Splicer in Kyurem, and then one part of the Splicer shot into Reshiram, pulling the two together and engulfing both of them in a big white light. After a whole minute, the light faded, and Whtie Kyurem appeared in front of Ghetsis and Clyde. The Diglett and Dugtrio just retreated into the ground and burrowed off.
“Let’s see if the rest of those losers finished off the castle yet!” Shouted Ghetsis. He and Clyde got on the back of White Kyurem and flew off to Chuso.

Back in Chuso, Joe arrived at Kumquat City on Talonflame. He returned the Scorching Pokemon to her Poke Ball and swapped his team for Rhyperior, Donphan, Quagsire, and Charmeleon. When Joe walked over to the Gym’s front door, there was a sign that said ‘Please Knock’. Joe knocked on the door, and a man walked out. It was Ben, Kumquat City’s Gym Leader.
“Why did you want me to knock on your door?” Asked Joe.
“My Magnezone electrocutes anyone who enters the room, in case burglars come in.” Ben explained. “I also want to know which starter you picked.
“Charmander.” Said Joe. “Why?”
“It’s a surprise!” Answered Ben. He went inside the Gym, and after a few minutes of secret tinkering, went back outside. “Come on in! I’m eager to fight you, Joseph.”
“The pleasure is all mine.” Said Joe, as he entered the Gym.
“As you can probably tell already,” Ben explained. “I specialize in Electric-Type Pokemon! I hope you brought Ground-Type Pokemon! Go, Zapmunk!” Zapmunk was sent out.
“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Rhyperior!” Rhyperior was sent out.
“Zapmunk!” Said Ben. “Use Super Fang!” Zapmunk bit on Rhyperior’s tail with his sharp teeth, leaving the Drill Pokemon with half her HP.
“Rhyperior!” Said Joe. “Use Drill Run!” Rhyperior crashed into her target while rotating her body like a drill, and the Chipmunk Pokemon fainted.
“Luckily, my next Pokemon has an explosive personality!” Said Ben, returning Zapmunk to her Poke Ball. “Go, Electrode!” Electrode was sent out.
“You deserve a rest, Rhyperior!” Said Joe, returning the Drill Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Donphan!” Donphan was sent out.
“Electrode!” Said Ben. “Use Swift!” Electrode threw stars at Donphan that dealt about 40 Hit Points to the Armor Pokemon.
“Donphan!” Said Joe. “Use Earthquake!” Donphan shook the floor violently, leaving the Ball Pokemon with a quarter of its HP.
“Electrode!” Said Ben. “Use Explosion!”
“Explosion?!” Said Joe. “Duck and cover!” He and Ben ran out of the Gym immediately right before Electrode exploded, making both Pokemon faint and destroying part of the Gym. Joe was devastated to see the destruction from the wreckage.
“I’m so sorry.” Said Joe, returning Donphan to his Poke Ball.
“That’s okay, Joseph.” Said Ben, returning Electrode to its Poke Ball. “I should probably use something less destructive like Raichu, Luxray, or Jolteon. I’ll catch an Eevee or Shinx after I rebuild the Gym. Go, Magnezone!” Magnezone was sent out.
“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Quagsire!” Quagsire was sent out.
“Magnezone!” Said Ben. “Use Secret Power!” Magnezone slammed its body into the ground, dealing 50 Hit Points to the Water Fish Pokemon.
“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Earthquake!” Quagsire shook the floor violently, and this attack would’ve made Magnezone faint, but it had the Ability Sutry with it, leaving it with one Hit Point left.
“Magnezone!” Said Ben. “Use Body Press!” Magnezone slammed its body into Quagsire again, leaving the Mud Fish Pokemon with 40% of her HP.
“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Mud Shot!” Quagsire hurled a blob of mud at Magnezone, and the Magnet Area Pokemon fainted.
“Remember how I said that I had a surprise for you?” Ben asked Joe while returning Magnezone to its Poke Ball.
“Yeah.” Replied Joe. “Why do you ask?”
“Because my final Pokemon loves to pull surprises!” Answered Ben. “Go, Rotom!” Wash Rotom was sent out.
“Rotom!” Said Ben. “Use Hydro Pump!” Wash Rotom shot lots of water at Quagsire, but instead of dealing damage to the Water Fish Pokemon, it actually restored her HP.
“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Giga Impact!” Quagsire charged at Wash Rotom using every bit of her power, and the Plasma Pokemon fainted.
“How did your Quagsire get so strong?” Ben asked Joe while returning Wash Rotom to its Poke Ball.
“She helped me defeat Rainbow Rocket.” Said Joe.
“Well, that explains it.” Said Ben. “Very well. You can have the Lightning Badge.” Ben handed Joe a yellow badge shaped like a zig-zag.
“Pokemon up to Level 50 will obey you, even those you receive from trades.” He explained. “You will also receive this.” Ben then handed Joe TM57, which contained Charge Beam.
“TM57 contains Charge Beam.” He explained. “As well as dealing damage, this attack also raises the user’s Special Attack stat by one rank. Be on your way, now! I have to rebuild the Gym and head to the Safari Zone!” Joe left the Gym to heal his Pokemon.
