In ancient times, before humans and Pokemon were allies and fought other people's Pokemon, there was a time in which humans and Dragon-type Pokemon hated each other. In the Kalos region, there lies the quaint village of Cyllage. The only problem is the pests. While other places have Ratattas or Beedrills, Cyllage has Dragons that steal their livestock and fish. Before humans used their Pokemon to fight wild ones, humans would use weapons like swords and axes. During an invasion from Charizards, Druddigons, Salamence, and Hydreigons, a young skinny boy with white hair named Brendan almost gets hit with a Fire Blast. He runs frantically, but gets captured by his father Norman.
"Brendan?" He said. "What are you doing outside? It's dangerous out here. Get back inside!"
Brendan heads back inside to meet up with Dexio, an assistant and friend of Norman. He may be scrawny, but he is very smart and has an interchangeable hand, a bit like a pirate's hook.
"Nice of you to join the party!" He said to Brendan. "I thought a Hydreigon carried you off!"
"Who, me?" Said Brendan. "No, come on. I'm too muscular for their taste." He lifted up a sledge hammer. "They wouldn't know what to do with all this."
"They could use tooth picks." Said Dexio. He hands Brendan some weapons to freeze up. Dragons (except for Charizard) have a weakness for ice. Outside, Brendan saw more experienced kids, like Tierno, Gary, the twins Ryan and Bryan, and Sarena, who Brendan has a bit of a crush on. Dexio grabbed Brendan with his hook.
"Come on, let me out." Pleaded Brendan. "I need to make my mark."
"You've made plenty of marks," Replied Dexio. "All in the wrong places!"
"Please, two minutes." Begged Brendan. "If I kill a Dragon, my life will be much better! I might even get a girlfriend."
"You can't lift a hammer." Said Dexio. "You can't swing an ax. You can't even throw one of these!" Dexio held a very early prototype of the Poke Ball. He threw it at a flying Druddigon, but instead of shrinking the Pokemon so it can fit in the ball, the ball exploded, revealing a net. The net wrapped itself around the Druddigon's legs, causing it to fall to the ground.
"OK, fine," Said Brendan. "But this will throw it for me." He put his hand on a catapult, but it threw the Poke Ball prototype in its haul and knocked out a Viking by mistake.
"See?" Said Dexio. "This is what I'm talking about. You're thinking way too ahead of your time. If you ever want to fight Dragons, you have to leave the inventing to me! Sharpen this sword please." He hands Brendan a sword to sharpen on the grinder.
"One day," Brendan said to himself. "I'll get out there. Because killing a Dragon is everything around here."
"Dragonite!" Shouted a Viking.
"Get down!" Another shouted. A Hyper Beam blasted through a building, destroying it whole. Brendan brought his catapult, headed to a good spot on the beach, and, when it was the right moment, fired the net. An explosion went off. The Dragonite might've been captured!
"I hit it!" Declared Brendan. "Did anyone see that?" A Charizard showed up and started chasing Brendan. This caught the attention of Norman. The Charizard lit fire on a wooden pole Brendan hid behind. He was about to attack Brendan, but Norman jumped into the squabble and slammed the Charizard with a sledge hammer. The Charizard flew away, but the flaming pole fell down, creating a devastating fire.
"But I hit a Dragonite." Said Brendan.
"Get inside, son." Said Norman. "I have a mess to clean up."
