Poketropolis Chapter 12

Zach and Dawn headed to City Hall to speak to Mary Shockwool. Mayor Tajiri has given Mary an awful lot of paperwork. Dawn and Zach then saw her with her paperwork that fell to the ground.

"Assistant Mayor Shockwool?" She asked. "We need your help." Dawn told Mary about the situation and was more than happy to help them. She brought them into her office, which was basically the boiler room, and got on the computer.

"We just need to get into the traffic cam database." Said Dawn. While Mary was typing, Zach touched the wool on her head and got shocked a little.

"She never lets me get this close to her, before." Zach whispered to Dawn.

"Don't touch a Flaaffy's wool!" Said Dawn.

"It's like Cotton Candy." Said Zach, and Dawn slapped his paw so he would stop.

"Where to?" Asked Mary.

"Santalune Forest." Said Dawn. "Tangela and Cherry-Grove."

"There!" Said Mary. "Traffic cams for the whole city. This is so exciting, actually! I never get to do anything this important."

"But you're the Assistant Mayor of Poketropolis." Said Dawn.

"I'm more of a glorified secretary." Said Mary. "I think Mayor Tajiri just wanted the Electric vote. But he did give me that nice mug." She then pointed to a mug that said 'World's Best Dad', but had 'dad' scribbled out and replaced with 'Assistant Mayor'. "It feels great to be appreciated!" Tajiri then spoke through the intercom.

"Stink-wool!" He said.

"That's a fun little name he likes to use." Said Mary. "I called him a royal pain once, but he didn't like it that much. Yes, sir?"

"I thought you were going to cancel my afternoon!" Said Leory.

"Oh, dear." Said Mary. "I better go. Let me know what you find. It has been a great pleasure letting me..."

"While we're young, Stink-Wool!" Shouted Leroy, and Mary left the room to see the mayor.

"Do you think when she goes to sleep, she counts herself?" Asked Zach. Dawn ignored that and got on the computer. She found the camera that recorded their encounter with Zangief. In the video, a car drove by, and out came two Mightyenas.

"Who are these guys?" Asked Dawn.

"Ugh." Said Zach. "Mightyenas. Look at those two dumbos." In the video, one Mightyena trapped Zangief with a net, and they started dragging the Zangoose into the car.

"Bet you a Poké Dollar one of them is gonna howl." Said Zach, and in the video, the Mighteynas howled. "What is it with Mightyenas and howling?"

"Howlers!" Said Dawn. "Night Howlers! That's what Zangief was afraid of! Mightyenas! The Mightyenas are the Night Howlers! If they took Zangief..."

"I bet they took Seaweasel, too." Said Zach.

"All we gotta do is find out where they went." Said Dawn. She followed the cameras to where the car headed, but it ended up in Snowpoint Falls. "Wait, where did they go?"

"You know," Said Zach, grabbing the computer mouse. "If I wanted to avoid surveillance because I was doing something illegal, which I never have, I would use the maintenance tunnel 6B, which would put them out right there." On the screen, the car headed outside Poketropolis and into an unfamiliar area.

"Well, look at you, Junior Detective." Said Dawn. "You would be a great cop." The car ended up in the Lavender Asylum, and Zach and Dawn knew where to go next.

Zach and Dawn headed to Lavender Asylum, which was north of Santalune Forest. When they got to the entrance, it was guarded by Mightyenas. Zach, using his special ability to take on other forms, turned into a Mightyena and walked by. However, another Mightyena was suspicious, but before he could place a paw on Zach, Dawn, who was hiding behind a rock, howled, which cases the other Mightyenas to howl. Another Mightyena came by and stopped him.

"Gary, quit it." He said. "You're gonna start a howl."

"I didn't start it!" Said Gary. Dawn continued howling, and before long, all the Mightyenas started howling. Dawn and Zach then sneaked to the side of the building, and Zach turned back into a Zoroark.

"You are a clever Normal-Type." He told Dawn. They entered the asylum through a drain pipe, and when Dawn got out her Pokétch, she turned on the Flash app again.

"It looks like this was a hospital." She said. They then spotted a grey metal door. Zach was about to open it, but then, he pushed Dawn towards the door.

"How about you open it, since you're the cop?" He suggested. Dawn opened the door and entered an operating room.

"All this equipment looks brand new." Said Dawn, recording the footage with her Pokétch. Zach then noticed claw marks on the ground.

"Carrots." He said. Dawn walked over and saw the large claw marks.

"Claw marks." She said.

"Yeah." Said Zach. "Huge claw marks. What kind of Pokémon could..." Suddenly, a savage Incineroar appeared and tried to attack them. Thankfully, the room he was trapped in was made of stone, and Rock beats Fire. Zach and Dawn continued walking and saw more savage Pokémon, including an Ursaring, Zangief, and even Red Seaweasel.

"It's him." Said Dawn. "We found our Floatzel." Dawn then tried speaking to him. "Mr. Seaweasel, my name is Officer Dawn Lopps. Your wife sent me to find you. We're gonna get you out of here now." Red, instead, attacked them, but was blocked by a glass door.

"Or not." Said Zach. "Guess he's in no rush to get home to the missus." While Zach was getting up, Dawn was counting how many chambers there were.

"Not including Zangief, that's 14." Said Dawn. "Chief Taki handed out 14 missing Pokemon files. They're all here! All the missing Pokémon are right here." She and Zach soon heard beeping. They hid inside a vacant room, and Mayor Leroy Tajiri and an Audino entered the hall.

"Enough!" He said. "I don't want excuses, Doctor! I want answers."

"Mayor Tajiri, please." Said the Audino doctor. "We're doing everything we can." Dawn got out her Pokétch to record the argument.

"Really?" Asked Leroy. "Because I got a dozen and a half Pokémon here who have gone off-the-rails crazy, and you can't tell me why. Now, I'd call that awfully far from 'doing everything'."

"Sir." Said the Audino. "It may be time to consider their biology."

"What?" Asked Leroy. "What do you mean 'biology?'"

"The only Pokémon going savage are predators." Said the Audino. "We cannot keep it a secret. We need to come forward."

"Great idea." Leroy said sarcastically. "Tell the public. And how do you think they're gonna feel about their mayor who is a Pyroar?! I'll be ruined!"

"What does Chief Taki say?" Asked the Audino.

"Chief Taki doesn't know." Said Leroy. "And we are going to keep it that way." Dawn's Pokétch started ringing. It was her parents calling her, but she rejected the call.

"Someone's here." Said Leroy.

"Sir." Said the Audino. "You need to go now." They then exited the hall, but then the door to the room Zach and Dawn snuck in was closed, meaning they were trapped. A pack of Mightyenas then barged in and started looking around.

"That's great." Said Zach. "We're dead. I'm dead, you're dead. Everybody's dead!" Dawn then looked at the toilet.

"Can you swim?" She asked while placing her Pokétch in a plastic bag.

"Yes, I can swim." Replied Zach. "Why?"

"We're going to flush ourselves out of here!" Said Dawn. She and, reluctantly, Zach, flushed themselves down the toilet and escaped the asylum.
Author's Notes: This is one of the main reasons why I chose Zach to be a Zoroark and not a Ninetales: Water is lethal to many Fire-Type Pokémon.
Zoroark, along with it's pre-evolved form Zorua, comes with the Ability Illusion. It allows Zorua and Zoroark to transform into a Pokémon in your party. However, it will still have the same move set and Type as it was before.
Lavender Asylum is named after the eerie Lavender Town from Pokémon Red and Blue, as well as the remakes FireRed and LeafGreen.
