Stinky and Jake: Here on the Animal Show.
Here on the Animal Show.
Here on the Animal Show!
Bunnie Bear: From under the ocean, over the clouds, and around the world…
Armstrong the Chickenhawk: Here comes the wild side of wild life.
Bunnie: The Animal Show!
Armstrong: And now, let’s have a wild welcome for your furry friends-
Bunnie: Stinky and Jake!
Stinky and Jake: Now it’s The Animal Show!
Jake: Hello, all you animals out there!
Stinky: I’m Stinky.
Jake: And I’m Jake. And today, we are going to meet two smelly animals- The stinkbug and the spotted skunk.
Stinky: And the spotted skunk on today’s show is my cousin, Scott! In fact, he’s right here! Come on, Scott! (Scott walks onto the screen)
Scott (gloomily): Hello.
Jake: What’s wrong with Scott?
Stinky: He suffers from depression.
Armstrong: And now, it’s time for….
Bunnie: That’s amazing! Today, we look at the binturong!
Armstrong: That actually looks cute.
Bunnie: This arboreal mammal from Southeast Asia is said to smell like popcorn!
Armstrong: What’s next? A chamois who smells like peanut butter?
Bunnie: Anyway, the binturong has a scent described by humans as smelling like popcorn.
Armstrong: Now that’s something that will make you say…
Stinky and Jake: That’s amazing!
Scott: Must be hunted by humans for its popcorn-flavored flesh.
Jake: This is gonna be a long episode. Anyone, here’s our first guest, all the way from Europe…
Stinky: Europe.
Jake: Please welcome Tulip the Stinkbug!
Tulip: Hi, Stinky. Hi, Jake. Who is this?
Jake: This is Jake’s cousin Scott. He’s as much fun as a puddle.
Scott: You probably don’t have many friends being a stinkbug.
Tulip: Probably not, but I have 20 kids that I’m proud of!
Jake: Are you protecting your babies?
Tulip: No, that’s my husband. We stinkbugs are also called shield bugs because we look like shields.
Stinky: Do you ever get into a fight with a sword bug? (laughs)
Tulip: I never heard of a sword bug, but when we get attacked by predators, we spray a foul-smelling liquid at him!
Jake: Or her.
Scott: Look at that poor bird!
Stinky: Are all stinkbugs brown like you?
Tulip: No, we can come in a variety of colors! Look!
Some stinkbugs can even change color slightly to avoid predators!
Stinky: You’re like skunks, but better!
Tulip: Thanks, Stinky. I have to get going now. It’s a long flight back to England! (flies off)
Scott: Now we have no guest star! The show is ruined!
Stinky: It’s not ruined, Scott. We also have a song coming on right now!
Jake: It’s all about how being ugly can be a good thing!
Scott: That sounds horrible!
I’m ugly, I’m ugly as sin
My beautiful’s out, ugly’s in
If you’re ugly like me
You’re in good company!
There are millions of us who are ugly!
Take a case of our friend, the crocodile
His bite is much more than his bark!
In fact, his behavior is juvenile!
Why can’t he just sing like a lark?
He’s not the prettiest to be found
He’s a useful and happy reptile
He’ll gobble up any animal too close
That gives him his permanent smile!
I’m ugly, I’m ugly as sin
My beautiful’s out, ugly’s in
If you’re ugly like me
You’re in good company!
There are millions of us who are ugly!
Take a case of our friend, the warthog
He must be the ugliest, by far
In every page of the ugly catalog
Of all the ugly ones, he’s a star!
His tail sticking up like a flagpole
His tusks, warts, wrinkles, and bristles
Whenever he decides to take a stroll
He’s never bothered by whistles
We’re ugly, we’re ugly as sin
Our beautiful’s out, ugly’s in
If you’re ugly like we
You’re in good company!
There are millions of us who are ugly!
There are millions of us who are ugly!
Scott: That was horrible! I bet those animals are offended!
Jake: No, it’s not! We showed it to the animals in the video, and they were actually flattered!
(cuts back to Stinky and Jake)
Tizzy the Bee: Tizzy here! Time for a quiz!
Which of these insects also sprays a foul-smelling liquid? The darkling beetle, the honeypot ant, the weta, or the firefly? Give it a think. Back in a buzz!
(Tizzy flies back to Stinky and Jake, who are trying to find out the answer)
Stinky: I encountered fireflies before, and none of them smelled bad to me.
Scott: I think it’s the honeypot ant.
Jake: You’re allergic to honey?
Scott: No, but I don’t like it.
Tizzy: Maybe you should hear the question again (flies back to the previous screen) Which of these insects also sprays a foul-smelling liquid? It’s the darkling beetle, bee-lieve it!
Just like stinkbugs, darkling beetles also spray predators with a bad smell. In fact, they’re also called skunk beetles! If that’s not enough, some darkling beetles also play dead like possums.
Bee-lieve it, because it’s true!
