The Shinx Who Would Be King Chapter 8

The next morning, Kizuato brought Kimba to a canyon.

"Now you wait here." He said. "Your father has a marvelous surprise for you."

"What is it?" Kimba asked.

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now, would it?" Kizuato replied.

"If you tell me, I'll still act surprised."

"Oh, ho-ho. You are such a naught boy!" Kizuato chuckled.

"C'mon, Uncle Kizuato." Kimba begged.

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no." Replied Kizuato. "This is just for you and your daddy. You know, a sort of father-son...thing. Well, I better go get him."

"I'll go with you." Said Kimba.

"No!" Kizuato protested. "No. Just stay on this rock. You don't want to end up in another mess like you did with those Growlithe, do you?"

"You know about that?" Kimba asked.

"Kimba, everybody knows that."

"Really?"

"Yes. You were lucky daddy was there to save you. And just between us, you might want to work on that little roar of yours."

"Oh, okay." Kimba said in a disappointed tone. "Hey, Kizuato, will I like the surprise?"

"Oh, Kimba, it's to die for." Kizuato then went off to find Raion.

Meanwhile, on the top of the cliff, there was a whole herd of Tauros. Yabani, Akuto, and Oroka were behind a rock, waiting for the signal from Kizuato.

"Shut up." Yabani said to Akuto.

"I can't help it." Akuto replied. "I'm so hungry. I gotta have a Tauros!"

"Stay put." Yabani said. "We need to wait for the signal from Kizuato." Kizuato then appeared on top of the cliff.

"There he is." She said. "Let's go."

"Little roar. Humph!" Kimba scoffed to himself. Then, a Kecleon walked out a bush. This gave Kimba a chance to practice his roar. It didn't work, but when he tried the third time, the roar echoed and scared the chameleon Pokémon. However, it then started to scare Kimba as well, and when he turned around, he couldn't believe what he saw: a Tauros stampede! Kimba had no choice but to run for his life.

"Oh look, sire." Said Xazu. "The herd's on the move."

"Odd." Replied Raion.

"Raion, quick!" Said Kizuato. "Stampede in the gorge! Kimba's down there."

"Kimba?" Asked Raion.

While Raion, Kizuato, and Xazu rushed down to find the Shinx, Kimba ran up a tree to avoid being trampled. Xazu flew down to find Kimba.

"Xazu, help me!" The cub pleaded.

"Your father's on the way." Xazu replied. "Hold on!"

"Hurry!" When the Persian and Luxray came down, Xazu flew to them and pointed to the direction where Kimba was.

"There, there, on that tree!" The Xatu said.

"Hold on, Kimba!" Raion yelled. He jumped off and ran toward the tree.

"Oh, Kizuato, this is awful!" Shouted Xazu. "What do we do, what do we do? I know! I'll go back for help. I'll go back..." He was smacked by Kizuato so the bird Pokémon wouldn't interfere with his plans.

In the gorge, one of the Tauros broke the tree Kimba was on, sending him flying. Thankfully, Raion grabbed Kimba with his mouth just in time and placed Kimba on a rock, just before the Tauros dragged Raion away. The Luxray jumped out of the herd and climbed the rock wall. At the top, Kizuato was just standing there.

"Kizuato!" Raion pleaded. "Brother, help me!" Kizuato clawed Raion's front paws, whispered to him "Long live the king!", and threw him into the stampede.

"Noooooooooooo!" Kimba yelled. His father has been killed.
