The Shinx Who Would Be King Chapter 9

"Dad!" Kimba yelled, trying to find his dad. The last Tauros ran across and Kimba saw Raion lying on the ground.

"Dad, wake up." Kimba said. "C'mon, we gotta go home." He tried to pull at his ear, but nothing happened.

"Help!" Kimba shouted. "Somebody! Anybody! Help." He put himself under Raion's arm.

"Kimba," Said Kizuato. "What have you done?"

"It was a stampede, there were these Tauros, and he tried to save me." Kimba answered. "I didn't mean for this to happen."

"Of course, of course, you didn't." Said Kizuato. "Nobody ever means for these awful things to happen, but the king is dead. If it weren't for you, he'd still be alive. What would your mother think?"

"What should I do?" Kimba asked.

"Run." Answered Kizuato. "Run away and never return." Upon hearing that, Kimba ran away.

"Kill him." Kizuato commanded the Growlithe. The Fire-type dog Pokémon chased Kimba again. Kimba stumbled off a cliff and into a group of Maractus. He stealth-fully avoided the cactus Pokémon and continued running. However, the Growlithe weren't careful and one of them fell into the Maractus pit, getting covered in thorns.

"Hey, there he goes. There he goes!" Said Yabani.

"Then go get him!" Said Akuto, covered in needles.

"There's no way I'm going in there!" Said Yabani. "You want me to end up like you, Maractus butt?"

Akuto blew his nose and shot needles at Oroka. "But we gotta go out there and finish the job!"

"Well, he's better dead out there anyway." Yabani replied. "And if he comes back, we'll kill him!"

"You here that, kid?" Akuto shouted. "If you ever come back, we'll kill you!"

Back at Pride Rock, Kizuato told the other Luxray, Gifuto, and Xazu about the stampede.

"Raion's death was a terrible tragedy." Said Kizuato. "And to lose Kimba, who had barely begun to live, to me, is a deep, personal loss." Growlithe started emerging from the caves and behind the rock. "Yet, out of the ashes, we will rise, in a dawning of a new era, in which Electric and Fire-types rule together, in a great and glorious future!"

Back at Yujin's tree, the Simisage smudged the drawing he did of Kimba.

Author's Note: I know that Yabani, Akuto, and Oroka could've burned the Maractus to a crisp, since Grass-types are weak against Fire-types. However, if I remember correctly, in Pokemon: The First Movie, Pikachu managed to electrocute a Golem, a Rock/Ground-type tortoise, despite Ground-types having an immunity to Electric-type attacks.
