The Land before Kanto Chapter 6

Little Leaf, Dragoon, and Archie were now in a dark cave. The Bayleef noticed the presence of an Avalugg, so he told the others to be quiet. When the Ice-type Pokemon left, the three decided to continue moving. Archie walked up Little Leaf's neck and rested on his head.

"Hey, you have a nice round head, Round Head." Said Archie.

"My name is not Round Head. My name is Little Leaf." Replied the Bayleef. "Are you just going to stay there?"

"Yes." Responded Archie.

"Well, you can't." Replied Little Leaf. "You're tearing my Sweet Herb."

"It is very special." Said Dragoon. "His mother gave it to him."

"Mother present, very important! I'll let no one touch it!" Archie rolled up the herb and marched around like a soldier.

"Archie can keep it safe!" Said Dragoon. "Yep, yep, yep!"

"Nope, nope, nope." Replied Little Leaf. "I am not a carrier. You're a flyer, now start flying!" Little Leaf started running, but Archie didn't like it. Suddenly, his eyes nearly popped out of his head like in the cartoons.

"DANGER!" He yelled.

"Where, Archie, where?" Little Leaf asked.

"There, ahead!" There was a skeleton of a Pokemon, and it got caught on Little Leaf. This scared the threesome, but then, Erin ran into them, breaking the skeleton.

"Are you frightened, Erin?" Asked Little Leaf.

"Frightened?" Erin scoffed. "Why were you so frightened?"

"Oh, we weren't frightened, were we?" Little Leaf asked Archie and Dragoon.

"Nope, nope."

"Well, you should be." The Lairon said. "I met Earthtooth!"

"Earthtooth!" Screamed Archie, grabbing onto Little Leaf's neck.

"Earthtooth is dead, Erin." Little Leaf protested.

"My dad told me that round heads have very small brains." Erin started her story. "There I was all alone in the dark, just me and Earthtooth."

"Dear brave Erin." Said Archie and Dragoon.

"I saw his big ugly eye looking at me!" Erin continued. "I could hear him breathing." Erin breathed heavily, which scared Dragoon.

"What did you do?" Dragoon asked.

"I went up to his eye and said... ROAR!" Erin jumped on a piece of wood, sending Dragoon flying. When the Axew landed, she found an egg. There was a Pokemon inside, but it was still sleeping.

"You are late." She said. "Come out!" Beaky pulled off the top of egg, revealing a Pokemon that looked like Axew, but it was a lighter green and had tougher skin.

"You are all alone." Said Dragoon, pulling off more egg shell. When all of the shell was ripped off, she found out what the Pokemon was.

"You are a Larvitar, so we'll call you Lars." Lars started eating most of the rocks in the area, growing to 5 feet in length. Dragoon found another partner for the journey.
Author's Note: The skeleton that Little Leaf, Dragoon, and Archie ran into happens to be a skeleton of Kabutops, a bit of a nod to the one on display at the Pewter City Museum in Pokemon Red and Blue. However, this confuses me, because Kabuto, which Kabutops evolves from, is an invertebrate, meaning it has no bones.
