Poketropolis Chapter 14

On PNN, the Pokémon News Network, a Liepard, which had brown fur instead of purple fur, and a Cobalion, were giving a news report.
"More bad news in the city gripped by fear." Said the Liepard. "A Sawsbuck is in critical condition after being attacked by a savage Beartic. This, the 27th such attack, comes just one week after PPD Officer Dawn Lopps connected the violence to traditionally predatory Pokémon."
"Meanwhile," Said the Cobalion. "A peace rally organized by pop star singer Utada was marked by protest." The scene then switched to Desert Resort, in which the conflict took place.
"Go back to the jungle, you predator!" Shouted a Grumpig.
"I'm from the savannah!" Said a Luxray, and Dawn was trying to prevent the two of them from hurting each other. The scene then switched to an interview with Utada.
"Poketropolis is a unique place." She said. "It's a crazy, beautiful, diverse city where we celebrate our differences. This is not the Poketropolis I know. The Poketropolis I know is better than this. We don't just blindly assign blame. We don't know why these attacks keep happening, but it's irresponsible to label all predators as savages. We cannot let fear divide us. Please give back the Poketropolis I love."
---------------------------------------------
While waiting on the bus, Dawn saw a Wigglytuff mother with an Igglybuff child. An Incineroar then sat down, and she moved her child towards her.
---------------------------------------------------
Dawn then headed to Red Seaweasel's apartment to comfort Violet. Red was in a room all by himself protected by glass.
"That's not my Red." She said.
--------------------------------------------------
Back at the PPD, Dawn was surfing the Internet with a sad look on her face. Chief Taki then walked over and knocked on Dawn's door.
"Come on, Lopps." He said. "The new mayor wants to see us."
"The mayor?" Dawn asked. "Why?"
"It would seem you've arrived." Said Taki. Dawn then walked past Gabe, who was packing his things in a box.
"Snorlock?" She asked. "What are you doing?"
"They thought it would be better if a predator such as myself wasn't the first face that you see when you walk into the PPD." He answered. "They're gonna move me to records. It's downstairs near the boiler." Dawn had a sad look on her face as she heard that.
-------------------------------------------------------
When Dawn and Taki arrived at City Hall, Dawn was looking at a poster Mayor Mary Shockwool made. It had Dawn's face and said 'Integrity. Honesty. Bravery.'
"I don't understand." She confessed.
"Our city is 90% prey, Dawn." Said Mary. "And right now, they're just really scared. You're a hero to them. They trust you. And that's why Chief Taki and I want you to be the public face of the PPD.
"I'm not a hero." Said Dawn. "I came here to make the world a better place, but I think I broke it."
"Don't give yourself so much credit, Lopps." Said Taki. "The world has always been broken, and that's why we need good cops. Like you."
"With all due respect, sir," Said Dawn. "A good cop is supposed to serve and protect. Help the city. Not tear it apart." She then let out a sigh. "I don't deserve this badge." She then took off her badge.
"Dawn." Said Mary. "You've worked so hard to get here. It's what you wanted since you were a kid. You can't quit." Regardless, Dawn placed her badge on the desk.
"Thank you for the opportunity." She said, and she started packing up to return to Diggersby Dunes.
Author's Note: The Liepard in this chapter is a shiny Liepard.
