Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 11

The gang arrived in Eterna Forest, but it was set on fire. Red got out Blastoise, and the Shellfish Pokémon put out the fires with Hydro Pump.

“We’ve gotten this far.” Said Iris. “But how are we going to get inside the hideout? It’s surrounded by a force field!”

“Have any of you tried using a Pokémon with Brick Break?” Asked Joe. “It can be used to break through Light Screen and Reflect. How would a force field be any different?” Joe walked over to the Chateau, sent out Machamp, and Machamp used Brick Break on the force field, causing it to collapse.

“Why didn’t we think of that?” Asked Steven. “Let’s go!” The eight of them went inside, but they didn’t go inside unnoticed.

“Intruders!” Said a Grunt. “Intruders in the hideout!” The group started getting surrounded by RR Grunts.

“Don’t worry about us, Joseph.” Said Lance. “Go find Giovanni! We’ll take care of these Trainers.”

“Got it!” Said Joe, and he sent out Linoone. “Linoone, use Odor Sleuth to find Giovanni! He’ll smell like Onix or Steelix scales, Honchkrow feathers, and Dugtrio fur.” Linoone obeyed Joe’s orders and started sniffing around to find Giovanni’s office. Luckily, it wasn’t too far, and Linoone growled to get Joe’s attention.

“Great job!” Said Joe, returning Linoone to his Poke Ball. He went inside the room and saw not just Giovanni, but also Archie, Maxie, and Lysandre!

“How did you get here?” Asked Giovanni.

“My Machamp used Brick Break.” Replied the 18-year-old. “And I’m here to stop your fiendish plan. Either step down and release the Legendaries or fight!”

“If you’re gonna fight Giovanni,” Said Maxie. “Then you’ll have to go through me! Go, Camerupt!” Camerupt was sent out.

“Go, Quagsire!” Said Joe, and Quagsire was sent out.

“Camerupt!” Said Maxie. “Use Take Down!” Camerupt charged at Quagsire and dealt a substantial amount of damage to the Water Fish Pokémon, even damaging himself in the process.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Water Pulse!” Quagsire attacked Camerupt with a pulsing blast of water, and the Eruption Pokémon fainted.

“That was just a lucky shot.” Said Maxie, returning Camerupt to his Poke Ball. “Go, Golem!” Golem was sent out.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Water Pulse again!” Quagsire attacked Golem with a pulsing blast of water, and the Megaton Pokémon fainted.

“I better use a different Pokémon.” Said Maxie, returning Golem to his Poke Ball. “Go Claydol!” Claydol was sent out.

“You did a great job, Quagsire!” Said Joe, returning the Water Fish Pokémon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Shiftry!” Shiftry was sent out.

“Shiftry!” Said Joe. “Use Leaf Blade!” Shiftry slashed Claydol with a sharp leaf, dealing a great amount of damage.

“Claydol!” Said Maxie. “Use Rock Slide!” Claydol used its telepathy to summon rocks to hurl at Shiftry, but the Wicked Pokémon dodged them all.

“Shiftry!” Said Joe. “Use Night Slash!” Shiftry lashed at Claydol with her sharp leaves, and the Clay Doll Pokémon fainted.

“Good thing my next Pokémon is resistant to Grass and immune to Ground!” Said Maxie, returning Claydol to his Poke Ball. “Go, Weezing!” Weezing was sent out.

“Luckily for me,” Said Joe, returning Shiftry to her Poke Ball. “My next Pokémon is immune to Poison! Go, Bronzong!” Bronzong was sent out.

“Weezing!” Said Maxie. “Use Heat Wave!” Weezing exhaled a heated breath that dealt a strong amount of damage to Bronzong.

“Bronzong!” Said Joe. “Use Extrasensory!” Bronzong used an odd unseeable power that caused Weezing to flinch.

“Great!” Said Joe. “Now use Psychic!” Bronzong hit Weezing with a telekinetic force so strong that it made the Poison Gas Pokémon faint.

“You’re stronger than I thought.” Said Maxie, returning Weezing to his Poke Ball. “Go, Sandslash!” Sandslash was sent out.

“You did a great job, Bronzong!” Said Joe, returning Bronzong to its Poke Ball. “Go, Quagsire!” Quagsire was sent out.

“Sandslash!” Said Maxie. “Use Crush Claw!” Sandslash slashed Quagsire with hard and sharp claws, leaving the Water Fish Pokémon with a quarter of her HP.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Aqua Tail!” Quagsire hit Sandslash in the stomach with her tail as if it were a vicious wave in a raging storm, and the Mouse Pokémon fainted.

“I still have two more Pokémon!” Said Maxie, returning Sandslash to his Poke Ball. “Go, Golem!” Golem was sent out.

“You did a great job, Quagsire!” Said Joe, returning Quagsire to her Poke Ball. “Go, Shiftry!” Shiftry was sent out.

“Shiftry!” Said Joe. “Use Leaf Tornado!” Shiftry attacked Golem by encircling him in sharp leaves, and the Megaton Pokémon fainted.

“Time to bring out the big guns!” Said Maxie, returning Golem to his Poke Ball. “Go, Groudon!” Groudon was sent out.”

“A GROUDON?!?!” Joe shouted. “How on Earth did you get Groudon?”

“Have you heard of our plans to create our own planets?” Asked Maxie. “Well, we’re going to use four select Legendaries, Groudon, Kyogre, Xerneas, and Arceus, to create our own planets. My planet will be dedicated to only humans. Enough chatter, let’s battle.”

“Okay!” Said Joe. “Shiftry, use Leaf Tornado again!” Shiftry attacked Groudon by encircling it in sharp leaves, dealing a good amount of damage to the Continent Pokémon.

“Groudon!” Said Maxie. “Use Flamethrower!” Groudon breathed intensely hot fire at Shiftry, and the Wicked Pokémon fainted.

“Oh, no!” Said Joe, returning Shiftry to her Poke Ball. “It’s okay, Shiftry. You did your best. Go, Quagsire!” Quagsire was sent out.

“Quagsire, really?” Asked Maxie. “Even when it only has 25% of its HP left?”

“That’s why I’m going to heal her.” Said Joe, spraying Quagsire with a Hyper Potion and restoring all her HP.

“Okay,” Said Maxie. “But you know the rule: If you use an item, your turn is over! Groudon, use Slash!” Groudon tried to lash at Quagsire with its mighty claws, but the Water Fish Pokémon dodged the attack. “How is that possible? Quagsire has horrible Speed!”

“That’s why I gave all my Pokémon special medicine before I got here!” Joe replied. “My parents are doctors, you know. Quagsire, use Muddy Water!” Quagsire shot muddy water at Groudon, leaving the Continent Pokémon with about half its HP.

“Groudon!” Said Maxie. “Use Mud Shot!” Groudon hurled a blob of mud at Quagsire, but the Water Fish Pokémon endured the hit.

“Quagsire!”  Said Joe. “Use Ice Punch!” Quagsire hit Groudon with its icy tail that not only dealt a great amount of HP, but also froze Groudon in ice.

“No!” Said Maxie, pulling out a Full Heal, spraying Groudon with it, and defrosted the Continent Pokémon.

“Just like you said,” Said Joe. “Using an item uses up a turn! Quagsire, use Aqua Tail!” Quagsire hit Groudon with her tail as if it were a vicious wave in a raging storm, and the Continent Pokémon fainted.

Author's Notes: In the video games, Brick Break can be used to stop the effects of Light Screen and Reflect.

I'm aware that in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as the remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, if Groudon and Kyogre were awakened that there would be catastrophic consequences and change the weather, but I  don't remember anyone complaining about how Lucy's Psyduck was able to attack a horde of Greninja with a Psychic-Type attack, despite the fact that Greninja is immune to Psychic. Not to mention how in the video games, if you KO a Legendary Pokémon, everything turns out fine, even if it's vital to its environment.
