Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 8

After fighting Dynamax’d versions of Dubwool, Polteageist, and Pyukumuku, Giovanni, Archie, Lysandre, and Peony have made it to the end of the Lair.

“Could it be Xerneas?” Asked Lysandre.

“That or maybe a 55-foot Butterfree.” Replied Peony. Suddenly, the quartet saw red clouds on the ground. When the clouds cleared, the Pokémon revealed itself to be a 150-foot tall Xerneas!

“Go, Steelix!” Shouted Giovanni, and Steelix was sent out. “Use Fissure!” Steelix opened up a fissure in the ground and dropped Xerneas in it, making the Life Pokémon faint.

“Now use a Heavy Ball, boss!” Said Lysandre. Giovanni threw the Heavy Ball at Xerneas, and after a few seconds of wobbling, the Ball clicked.

“Three down, one to go!” Declared Giovanni. “Let’s blow this place and head back to the hideout!” Giovanni, Archie, and Lysandre jumped on Honchkrow, Pelipper, and Pidgeot respectively and fled the Max Lair.

“Hey, where are you going?” Asked Leony. “Don’t you want to see what else the cave has to offer? Oh, well. Might as well go check on Peonia.”

Joe arrived at Route 7, where the Kalos Daycare was located. The husband and wife were happy to see him.

“We’re so glad you came!” Said the wife. “Your Medicham missed you.” A Medicham walked out of the building to reveal herself to Joe.

“Is that you, Medicham?” Joe asked, and the Meditate Pokémon nodded her head yes. “I’m so happy to see you! Wait until you see our new Ice-Type friend!” Suddenly, Joe’s phone started going ‘Poke Mon Mon Mon!’, and he picked it up to see what was going on: There was a news flash from PNN. Joe clicked it to see what was up this time.

“This is Gabby of PNN, coming at you with more breaking news!” She said. “Both Groudon and Xerneas have gone missing, and the perpetrators have been recognized: Giovanni and Archie! I am here, live in Eterna Forest, where lots of naughty teenagers are hanging around the Old Chateau, where the aforementioned Giovanni and Archie, along with Lysandre and Maxie, are starting their own headquarters. What is your name, boy?”

“The name’s Butch.” Answered the teen. “And we will start Team Rainbow Rocket! With the Legendary Pokémon Groudon, Kyogre, Xerneas, and Arceus, we will create our own planets to our own desires! No one will stop us! Now get away from me, you old hag!”

“Old hag?” Gabby asked herself. “But I’m not even 50! I better get going. Ty, sign off please! This might get ugly!” The camera then turned off, ending the video.

“Oh, no.” Said Joe. “I need to do training, lickity-split! But first, I need to catch Ditto and Munna. Next stop, the fabled Pokémon Village!”

“Ahem.” Said the husband. “You owe us 2,100 Poke Dollars.”

“Okay, here’s the money.” Said Joe, giving the husband the money and returning Medicham to her Poke Ball. “Now, off to Pokémon Village to catch Ditto!” Joe sent out Talonflame to ride her to Pokémon Village.

Gabby and Ty have just got out of Eterna Forest, and they couldn’t believe what they just witnessed.

“Next time, we’ll send another news anchor for these types of situations.” She said with an exhausted tone. As they arrived in Eterna City, the duo encountered seven powerful Trainers: Red, Blue, Lance, Cynthia, Steven, Hau, and Iris.

“Whatever you do,” Said Ty. “Don’t go in there. It’s crawling with Grunts.”

“We know.” Said Lance. “We are the Super-Strong Seven, and we’re going to stop Giovanni from doing his dastardly plans!”

“Good luck.” Said Gabby. “You need it.”

Author's Note: I forgot to say that Peony has a daughter named Peonia, who apparently borrowed a Tyrantrum.

Team Rainbow Rocket using a Heavy Ball on Xerneas in this chapter is inspired by an episode of the anime 'Gulpin it Down', in which Ash and the gang are attacked by a horde of Gulpin, a Poison-Type Pokémon that can devour anything. Professor Jacuzzi, one of the many characters created specifically for the anime, lures the Gulpin out of town with a Poke Block, which is a delicacy among Pokémon of all species. However, one Gulpin remained in the city, and it, along with Ash's Treecko, get hit with Jacuzzi's invention and grow to elephantine proportions. Treecko gets exhausted after luring the giant Gulpin to a lake, shrinking back to normal. Gulpin, however, is still huge, so Jacuzzi throws a Heavy Ball at it, and it actually works.

Joe's phone going 'Pokémon Mon Mon Mon' is a reference to a song that was made for the English dub of the anime, Pokémon Dance Mix. This was back when there were only 151 Pokémon rather than nearly 900.
