Rise of Rainbow Rocket Chapter 14

“You may have bested Archie, Maxie, and Lysandre,” Giovanni began, while Joe was healing his Pokémon. “But with Arceus at my disposal, I am unstoppable! Just try and fight me! Once I dispose of you, our plan will come to fruition! Team Rainbow Rocket will rule the world and create our new planets! But first, you have to catch me.” Giovanni sent out Arceus and flew off. Joe ran out of the building, sent out Talonflame, and followed Giovanni until they were both in Alola. The Super-Strong Seven, along with Giovanni’s lackeys, followed both of them in pursuit. Giovanni and Joe were now in the middle of the Haina Desert.

“This ends now!” Said Giovanni. “Go, Dugtrio!” Dugtrio was sent out.

“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Lapras!” Lapras was sent out.

“Dugtrio!” Said Giovanni! “Use Earthquake!” Dugtrio shook the ground violently and dealt a substantial amount of damage to Lapras.

“Lapras!” Said Joe. “Use Hydro Pump!” Lapras fired a high volume of water at Dugtrio, and the Mole Pokémon fainted.

“That’s just a lucky shot.” Said Giovanni, returning Dugtrio to his Poke Ball. “Luckily, my next Pokémon is stronger! Go, Steelix!” Steelix was sent out.

“That was a piece of Poke Puff, Lapras!” Said Joe, returning the Transport Pokémon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Talonflame!” Talonflame was sent out.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Steelix, dealing a great amount of damage.

“Steelix!” Said Giovanni. “Use Stone Edge!” Steelix summoned sharp rocks and threw them at Talonflame, leaving the Scorching Pokémon with 40% of her HP.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Steelix again, and the Iron Snake Pokémon fainted.

“My next two Pokémon will poison those who touch it!” Said Giovanni, returning Steelix to his Poké Ball. “Go, Nidoqueen!” Nidoqueen was sent out.

“You did a great job, Talonflame!” Said Joe, returning the Scorching Pokémon to his Poké Ball. “Go, Bronzong!” Bronzong was sent out.

“Bronzong!” Said Joe. “Use Psychic!” Bronzong hit Nidoqueen with a strong telekinetic force, dealing a lot of damage.

“Nidoqueen!” Said Giovanni. “Use Earthquake!” Nidoqueen shook the ground violently, but the Bronze Bell Pokémon was unaffected. “How is that possible?! Ground beats Steel!”

“Don’t you remember my battle with Maxie’s Weezing?” Joe asked. “Well, Bronzong comes with two Abilities: Heatproof and Levitate. Luckily, my Bronzong has the latter Ability! Bronzong! Use Psychic!” Bronzong hit Nidoqueen with another strong telekinetic force, and the Drill Pokémon fainted.

“Good strategy.” Said Giovanni, returning Nidoqueen to her Poke Ball. “Go, Nidoking!” Nidoking was sent out.

“Nidoking!” He said. “Use Megahorn!” Nidoking charged at high speed at Bronzong, but he missed and crashed into a rock.

“Bronzong!” Said Joe. “Use Extrasensory!” Bronzong attacked  with an odd, unseeable power, dealing a good amount of damage.

“There’s more than one way to skin a Glameow!” Said Giovanni. “Nidoking, use Fire Punch!” Nidoking lit his fist on fire and slugged Bronzong with it, dealing a great amount of damage.

“Bronzong!” Said Joe. “Use Psychic!” Bronzong hit Nidoking with a strong telekinetic force, and the Drill Pokémon fainted.

“Why is it that evil teams use similar Typings for their teams?” Giovanni asked himself while returning Nidoking to his Poke Ball. “Go, Rhyperior!” Rhyperior was sent out.

“You did a great job, Bronzong!” Said Joe, returning Bronzong to its Poke Ball. “Go, Gogoat!” Gogoat was sent out.

“Gogoat!” Said Joe. “Use Seed Bomb!” Gogoat slammed a barrage of hard-shelled seeds on Rhyperior, leaving the Drill Pokémon with half his HP.

“Rhyperior!” Said Giovanni. “Use Megahorn!” Rhyperior charged towards Gogoat and attacked with his mighty horn, dealing a great amount of damage.

“Gogoat!” Said Joe. “Use Horn Leech!” Gogoat drained Rhyperior’s energy with his horns, and the Drill Pokémon fainted. It also restored some HP to Gogoat.

“No more games!” Said Giovanni. “Go, Arceus!” Arceus was sent out, but it had a strange metal box on its neck. Giovanni pulled out a remote control from his pocket.

“That was excellent, Bronzong!” Said Joe, returning the Bronze Bell Pokémon to its Poke Ball. “Go Lapras!” Lapras was sent out. Giovanni switched Arceus’s Type from Normal to Water, changing its wheel and hooves from yellow to blue.

“Lapras!” Said Joe. “Use Surf!” Lapras summoned a tidal wave and hit Arceus with it, but it did little damage to the Alpha Pokémon.

“Arceus!” Said Giovanni. “Use Thunderbolt!” Arceus hit Lapras with a strong bolt of lightning, and the Transport Pokemon fainted.

“No!” Said Joe, returning Lapras to her Poke Ball. “How is this possible?!”

“Arceus can change its Type depending on the Plate it’s holding.” Giovanni explained. “With the help of Faba, who’s locked up in the hideout, Arceus can now change its Type at any time!”

“Then I choose you!” Said Joe. “Talonflame!” Talonflame was sent out. Giovanni switched Arceus’s Type from Water to Rock, changing its wheel and hooves from blue to brown.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Roost!” Talonflame rested on the ground and restored her HP.

“What a waste.” Said Giovanni. “Arceus, use Rock Slide!” Arceus hurled large boulders at Talonflame, and the Scorching Pokémon fainted. With every Pokémon Joe sent out, Arceus managed to defeat. Soon, he was left with just Ditto.

“We didn’t have much training.” Said Joe. “But this is our only chance! Go, Ditto!” Ditto was sent out, and Giovanni just laughed.

“It’s your most desperate hour, and you’re sending out Ditto?!” Giovanni laughed hysterically. “That’s pathetic! Arceus, use Focus Blast!” Arcues heightened its mental focus and unleashed its power, which Ditto luckily avoided.

“Ditto!” Said Joe. “Transform into Articuno!” Ditto did so, and Transformed into a crude version of Articuno that looked like it came from a 90s video game.

“Arceus!” Said Giovanni. “Use Rock Slide again!” Arceus threw more boulders at Ditto, but the Transform Pokémon was lucky to dodge them all.

“How is that possible?!” Giovanni asked.

“I coated Ditto with the contents of a Lax Incense while I was healing my Pokémon!” Said Joe. “The Lax Incense may make moves miss! Ditto, use Mind Reader!" Ditto focused its beady black eyes at Arceus, ensuring that it’s next move won’t miss.

“Really?” Asked Giovanni. “Another Ice-Type?” Giovanni switched Arceus’s Type from Rock to Steel, changing its wheel and hooves from brown to grey.

“Arceus!” Said Giovanni. “Use Fire Blast!” Arceus tried shooting a spiral of fire at Ditto, but it missed and hit a Gabite, making her mad.

“Ditto!” Said Joe. “Use Sheer Cold!” Ditto froze Arceus solid like a Beartic, and instead of fainting, the metal box that controlled its Typing broke off, changing Arceus’s wheel and hooves from grey to yellow.

“No!” Said Giovanni. “My one ticket to world domination! And it was foiled again by a bunch of meddling kids!” The wild Gabite then looked at Giovanni and started chasing him. Maxie, Archie, and Lysandre tried walking away, but were stopped by Red’s Venusaur, who wrapped up the criminals up with Leech Seed. Suddenly, Arceus started to talk.

“Thank you for releasing me from that awful machine.” Arceus said. “I will give you one wish as my gratitude.

“Ask for a hundred Master Balls!” Said Blue.

“Ask for a lifetime’s supply of Malasadas!” Said Hau.

“Ask for Ethers and Elixers to become available in stores!” Said Iris.

“Quiet, everyone.” Said Lance. “Let Joseph decide what he wants.

“I wish for a new Region with 14 new Pokemon that have cool Type combinations!” Joe decided.

“Very well.” Said Arceus. Suddenly, the Earth started shaking.

“Did someone use Earthquake, Fissure, or Earth Power?!” Blue asked.

“No.” Said Arceus. “That’s the new Region being formed.” The shaking then stopped. “The new Region will be called Chuso, and tomorrow, I’ll populate it with about 200 Pokémon species, but with every new Region comes new perils. I shall transport you eight back to Sinnoh.”

“But what about us?!” Asked Archie.

“I’ll deal with you later.” Said Arceus. The Alpha Pokémon used Teleport, and the Super-Strong Seven along with Arceus and Joe vanished. Soon, they were back at the Old Chateau.

“I must go now.” Said Arceus, breaking Groudon, Kyogre, and Xerneas out of their Balls. “These Legendaries need to be returned to their rightful places.” Arceus tripled in size, used its telepathy to bring Groudon, Kyogre, and Xerneas onto its back, and flew through the sky. The clouds in the sky then said ‘Joseph, look at your phone’. Joe looked at his phone and noticed something extraordinary: Arceus was registered on his Pokedex app!

“Look at this, guys!” He said. “I have Arceus on my phone! This is so cool!”

“Thank you for saving the world, Joseph.” Said Steven. “As a gift, we will each give you our phone numbers so you can contact or battle us any time.” The Super Strong Seven then exchanged phone numbers with Joseph.

“Shouldn’t we rescue Faba?” Asked Joe, and they went inside to find Faba, who was locked in a closet.

“Thanks so much!” He pleaded. “That dastardly Giovanni and his crew blackmailed me into reverse-engineering Arceus! What can I do to repay you?”

“Not much.” Said Joe. “I have to go now. It’s getting late.” Joe then ran to Eterna City to stay for the night.

Author's Notes: Ditto turning into a crude version of Articuno is secretly making fun of how off-model many of the original 151 Pokémon looked like in Generation 1. This is supposed to be Articuno.

At one point, I was going to make the final battle with Giovanni take place in the hideout, but then I took to account that it would probably crumble and cause serious harm to everyone inside, so I moved it to the Haina Desert. In this location in Sun and Moon, players will be able to find and catch Trapinch, Sandile, Gabite (like in this chapter), and even Tapu Bulu!

In a Pokémon battle, every move has a limit on how many times it can be used. These are known as Power Points, or PP for short. Going to the Pokémon Center will replenish a Pokémon's PP, but you can also use the medicine Ether and Elixir. However, both of these Items unfortunately cannot be found in stores, so use them wisely.

When a Pokémon holds a Lax Incense, it might make the opponent's moves miss. Breed Wobbuffet with another Pokémon while it's holding this item, and it will lay an Egg containing a Wynaut.

As for what happened to the Azure Flute, Arceus destroyed it so no one could summon the Alpha Pokémon ever again.
