The Shinx Who Would Be King Chapter 10

The next day, Kimba was in the desert lying on the ground unconscious. Mandibuzz came to pick on the Shinx, but then, a Mienfoo riding on the back of an Emboar came into the scene and chased the vulture Pokémon away.
"I love it! Bowling for Mandibuzz." Said the Emboar.
"Gets them every time." The Mienfoo laughed.
"Uh-oh." The Emboar said, looking at Kimba. "Hey, Kyatto. You better come look. I think it's still alive."
"All-righty." Kyatto said. "What do we have here?" He lifted the Shinx's paw so he could see its face. Suddenly, he realized what it was.
"Geez, it's a Shinx!" He yelled. "Run, Baka! Move it!"
"But Kyatto, look at him." Baka-sha said. "He's so cute and all alone. Can we keep him?"
"Baka-sha, are you nuts?" Kyatto yelled into Baka-sha's ear. "You're talking about a Shinx. Shinx eat guys like us!"
"But he's so little." Said Baka-sha.
"He'll evolve into Luxray!" Kyatto resented.
"What if he was on our side?" Baka-sha asked.
"That's the stupidest thing I ever heard!" Scoffed Kyatto. "Maybe he'd... Hey, I got an idea! What if he was on our side? You know, having a Luxray on our side might come in handy."
"So we're keeping him?" Baka-sha asked.
"Sure." Kyatto answered. "Who's the brains of this outfit?"
"Uhhhh..."
"Exactly. Geez, I'm fried. Let's go find some shade." Baka-sha picked up Kimba with his muscle-bound arms and headed for an Oasis. When they got there, Kyatto splashed some water on Kimba's face.
"Huh, where am I?" Kimba asked.
"You nearly died." Said Baka-sha.
"Yeah, and I saved you." Said Kyatto, but Baka-sha snorted. "And Baka helped, a little."
"Thanks, I guess." Said Kimba in a melancholy tone, and he walked away.
"Boy, he looks blue." Said Kyatto.
"I also see some black in him." Said Baka-sha.
"No, I mean he's depressed." He and Baka-sha walked over to Kimba to cheer him up.
"Hey kid, what's eating ya?" Baka-sha asked.
"Nothing." Said Kyatto. "He's ate the top of the food chain! Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha! The food chain! So, where are you from?"
"Doesn't matter." Said Kimba. "I can't go back."
"Ah, you're an outcast." Said Kyatto. "That's great, so are we."
"What did you do, kid?" Baka-sha asked.
"Something terrible," Answered Kimba. "But I don't want to talk about it."
"Good. We don't want to hear about it." Said Kyatto.
"C'mon, Kyatto." Said Baka-sha. "Is there anything we can do?"
"Not unless you change the past." Replied Kimba.
"My buddy Kyatto says you have to put your behind in the past." Said Baka-sha.
"No, no! Amateur." Said Kyatto. "Sit down before you hurt yourself. What Baka meant to say is: you gotta put your past behind you. Bad things happen and you can't do anything about it, right?"
"Right." Kimba answered.
"Wrong!" Said Kyatto. "When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world."
"That's not what I've been taught." Replied Kimba.
"Well, kid." Said Kyatto. "Looks like you need a new lesson. Repeat after me: Shinpai nai."
"What?"
"Shinpai nai." Said Baka-sha. "It means no worries."
Kyatto: Shinpai nai
What a wonderful phrase
Baka-sha: Shinpai nai
Ain't no passing craze!
Kyatto: It means no worries
For the rest of your days
Both: It's our problem-free philosophy
Kyatto: Shinpai nai.
Kimba: Shinpai nai?
Baka-sha: It's our motto.
Kimba: What's a motto?
Kyatto: I don't know. What's a motto with you? Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Baka-sha: You know, kid. These two words will solve all your problems!
Kyatto: Yeah. Take Baka for example. Why...
When he was a young Tepig
Baka-sha: When I was a young Tepig!
Kyatto: Very nice.
Baka-sha: Thanks.
Kyatto: He found the aroma
Lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the savanna
After every meal
Baka-sha: I'm a sensitive soul
Though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt
That my friends never stood downwind!
And oh, the shame!
Kyatto: He was a shame!
Baka-sha: Thought of changing my name!
Kyatto: What's in a name?
Baka-sha: And I got down-hearted
Kyatto: How did he feel?
Baka-sha: Every time that I...
Kyatto: Baka, not in front of the readers!
Baka-sha: Oh, sorry.
Both: Shinpai nai
What a wonderful phrase
Shinpai nai
Ain't no passing craze
Kimba: It means no worries
For the rest of your days
Kyatto: Yeah, sing it kid.
Kimba and Kyatto: It's our problem-free
Baka-sha: Philosophy
All three: Shinpai nai!
After they were done singing (for now), Kyatto and Baka-sha decided to show Kimba where they lived.
"Welcome to our humble home." Said Kyatto, holding a leaf that opens a path to a beautiful jungle.
"You live here?" Kimba asked in awe.
"We live wherever we want." Kyatto responded.
"Yep." Said Baka-sha. "Home is where your rump rests."
"It's beautiful." Commented Kimba. When the three Pokémon made it into the jungle, Baka-sha lead out a loud belch.
"Boy, I'm starved." He said.
"I'm so hungry, I could eat a whole Blitzle." Declared Kimba.
"Ah, we're fresh out of Blitzle." Said Kyatto.
"Any Stantler?" Kimba asked.
"Na-ah."
"Slowpoke?"
"Nope. Listen, kid. If you want to live with us, you have to eat like us." Kyatto picked up a log to reveal Bug Pokémon underneath.
"Ah, here's a place to rustle up some grub." The Mienfoo said.
"What's that?" Kimba asked.
"A grub." Kyatto answered, holding a Larvesta. "What does it look like?"
"Ew, gross." Replied Kimba, while Kyatto ate up the Larvesta.
"Tastes like Torchic." He said, while Baka-sha slurped up a whole Shuckle (excluding the shell).
"Slimy yet satisfying!" The Emboar said.
"Ah, these are a rare delicacy." Said Kyatto. He was near a Durant hill and picked up a Ledyba and ate it. "Piquant with very pleasant crunch."
"You learn to love 'em." Said Baka-sha, with Bug Pokemon in his mouth.
"I'm telling you, kid. This is the big life." Said Kyatto holding a leaf with Bug Pokémon piled on it. "No rules, no responsibilities..." He poked his hand through a log and Bug Pokemon swarmed out.
"Ooh, the sour cream-filled kind!" Kyatto continued, picking up a Venonat. "And best of all, no worries! So kid, what do you say?"
"Oh well. Shinpai nai." Said Kimba. He grabbed a Caterpie and swallowed it whole.
"Slimy yet satisfying." Said Kimba.
"That's it." As Kimba grew older, he evolved into Luxio, then Luxray, while feeding off of Bug Pokemon.
Kimba, Kyatto, and Baka-sha: Shinpai nai, Shinpai nai, Shinpai nai, Shinpai
Kimba: It means no worries
For the rest of your days
All three: It's our problem-free philosophy
Shinpai nai
Shinpai nai
Shinpai nai
Shinpai nai-ai-ai-ai
Kimba was having the time of his life, while things were definitely not going well somewhere else.
Author's Note: Shinpai nai actually does mean 'no worries' in Japanese.
