Back at
Slateport, Rakki was looking out of a window. Yasei swam over to talk to Rakki.
"You
miss your dad, don't you Sharpedo Bait?" Yasei asked Rakki.
"Yeah."
Answered Rakki.
"You're
lucky to have someone out there looking for you." Said Yasei.
"He's
not looking for me." Said Rakki. "He's scared of the ocean."
Yasei then looked at Ruby.
"Ruby,
what's the report?" He asked.
"It
seems that May is teaching a boy about TMs and HMs." Said the Starmie.
"That's a good sign." Rikki couldn't help but look at Yasei's damaged
dorsal fins.
"My
first escape- landed on a table." He told Rikki. "I was aiming for
the toilet."
"The
toilet?" Asked Rakki.
"All
drains lead to the ocean, kid." Said Yasei.
"Wow."
Replied Rakki. "How many times have you tried to get out?"
"Lost
count." Replied Yasei. He and Rikki started swimming over to the filter.
"Fish aren't meant to be in a box, kid. It does things to you." Ruby
then updated the report about May.
"They're
going upstairs for a TM lesson!" She said. "We have 6 to 10 minutes!"
"That's
your cue, Sharpedo Bait." Yasei told Rakki.
"You
can do it, kid." Said Bloat.
"Okay,
you gotta be quick." Yasei told Rikki. "Once you get in, swim to the
bottom of the chamber, and I'll talk you through the rest."
"Okay."
Said Rakki with an unsure tone.
"Come
on, kid." Said Yasei. "It'll be a piece of Poffin." Rakki then
jumped into the filter. "Can you hear me?"
"Yeah!"
Said Rakki.
"Here
comes the pebble." Said Yasei, throwing a pebble into the filter, and
Rakki caught it.
"Now,
do you see a small opening?" Asked Yasei.
"Uh-huh!"
Said Rakki.
"Inside
it," Yasei continued. "You'll see a rotating fan. Very carefully
wedge the pebble into the fan to stop it turning." Rakki tried to wedge
the pebble in the fan, but it was too dangerous.
"Careful,
Sharpedo Bait!" Said Yasei.
"I
can't do it!" Said Rikki.
"Yasei,
this isn't a good idea." Said Ruby.
"He'll
be fine." Said Yasei. "Try again!"
"Okay."
Said a nervous Rakki. He wedged the pebble inside the fan, and it actually
worked! "I got it! I got it!"
"That's
great, kid!" Said Yasei. "Now swim up the tube and out." Rakki
went inside the tube, but the pebble budged so slightly. While Rakki was
swimming out the tube, the pebble gave in, and the fan resumed spinning,
sucking in Rakki.
"Yasei!
Yasei!" He shouted.
"Sharpedo
Bait!" Said Yasei.
"Oh my
gosh!" Exclaimed Bloat.
"Get
him out of there!" Said Redeye.
"Help
him!" Said Baburu. "What do we do? What do we do?" Yasei took a
piece of fake seaweed and stuffed it into the tube. Ruby, Baburu, Redeye, Bloat,
and Tate joined along to help.
"Stay
calm, kid." Said Yasei. "Just don't panic! Grab hold of the
seaweed!" Rakki grabbed a leaf with his teeth, but it fell off and got
shredded by the fan.
"No,
no, no!" Pleaded Rakki.
"Grab
me more!" Order Yasei.
"But
that's all there is!" Said Redeye.
"Sharpedo
Bait!" Said Yasei. "Grab it!" The Luvdisc held onto the seaweed
with his jaws, and the six other Water-Type Pokémon pulled the seaweed out,
with Rakki still holding the end. When they finally pulled him out, they all
collapsed.
"Yasei,"
Pleaded Ruby. "Don't make him go back in there."
"No."
Said Yasei. "We're done."
Author's Notes: Poffins are items in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl that are used to help Pokemon in contests.
TMs and HMs, which are exclusive to the games, are CD-shaped items that can teach a Pokemon cool moves.
TMs, up until Generation 5, are single-use, while HMs can be used over and over. However, once a Pokemon learns an HM move, it cannot be forgotten by a Pokemon (which can only learn up to four moves in the games) except for certain circumstances.
