A few hours later, Joe flew on Talonflame to the top of Mt. Snowy, where the Elite Four was located. As well as his trusty Flying-Type, Joe’s team consisted of Gigalith, Crabominable, Galarian Rapidash, Skuntank, Shiftry, and Manectric. When he arrived at the Pokemon League, a guard outside asked him a question.
“Do you have all eight Chuso Badges?” He asked.
“Yes, I do!” Said Joe, showing off his Badges.
“Those certainly are the Chuso Badges!” Said the guard. “You may head inside.” Joe went inside the building, and beyond the lobby, there were four doors, each with different emblems on them: One with what looked like a Ledyba, another with a boxing glove, another with a swirl, and another with a metal cog. Joe entered the room with the Ledyba on it, and he came across a female Trainer with red hair, green eyes, a blue shirt, and a purple tank top.
“Hello there.” She said. “My name is Kimberly, but you can call me Kim. People assume that all Bug-Type Trainers are boys, but I’m able to debunk that stereotype! Go, Beautifly!” Beautifly was sent out.
“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Gigalith!” Gigalith was sent out.
“Beautifly!” Said Kimberly. “Use Giga Drain!” Beautifly used her proboscis to drain Gigalith with, dealing a substantial amount of damage to the Compressed Pokemon.
“Gigalith!” Said Joe. “Use Rock Slide!” Gigalith hurled large boulders at Beautifly, and the Butterfly Pokemon fainted.
“Bug/Flying is a bit of a bad Type combo.” Said Kimberly, returning Beautifly to his Poke Ball. “Go, Demonoptera!” Demonoptera was sent out.
“That was excellent, Gigalith!” Said Joe, returning the Compressed Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Talonflame!” Talonflame was sent out.
“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames on Demonoptera, leaving the Wasp Pokemon with half her HP.
“Demonoptera!” Said Kimberly. “Use Payback!” Demonoptera flew towards Talonflame and scratched her with her sharp claws, dealing about 90 Hit Points to the Scorching Pokemon. She also got poisoned by Demonoptera’s Poison Touch.
“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Hurricane!” Talonflame attacked Demonopter by wrapping her up in a fierce wind, and the Wasp Pokemon fainted. Talonflame also took damage from poison.
“Luckily, my next Pokemon knows lots of status moves!” Said Kimberly, returning Demonoptera to her Poke Ball. “Go, Parasect!” Parasect was sent out.
“Don’t worry, Talonflame!” Said Joe, pulling out a Full Restore. “This will heal you.” Joe sprayed the medicine on the Scorching Pokemon, and it restored all her HP and removed her poisoning.
“You know the rules!” Said Kimberly. “Using an Item uses up a turn! Parasect, use Stun Spore!” Parasect tried scattering spores on Talonflame, but luckily, the attack missed.
“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Parasect, and the Mushroom Pokemon fainted.
“Luckily, my next Pokemon is part Dragon!” Said Kimberly, returning Parasect to his Poke Ball. “Go, Yandrake!” Yandrake was sent out.
“That was spectacular, Talonflame!” Said Joe, returning the Scorching Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go Crabominable!” Crabominable was sent out.
“Yandrake!” Said Kimberly. “Use Aerial Ace!” Yandrake flew towards Crabominable and struck him with her mighty legs, leaving the Wooly Crab Pokemon with 60% of his HP.
“Crabominable!” Said Joe. “Use Ice Hammer!” Crabominable slammed Yandrake with his mighty fist, which not only left the Dragonfly Pokemon with half her HP, but also lowered the Wooly Crab Pokemon’s Speed.
“Yandrake!” Said Kimberly. “Use Dragon Rush!” Yandrake flew into the air and tried to attack Crabominable, but the attack missed.
“Crabominable!” Said Joe. “Use Ice Punch!” Crabominable delivered another strong punch at Yandrake, and the Dragonfly Pokemon fainted.
“Luckily, my next Pokemon has a good movepool!” Said Kimberly, returning Yandrake to her Poke Ball. “Go, Dustox!” Dustox was sent out.
“You deserve a rest, Crabominable!” Said Joe, returning the Wooly Crab Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Rapidash!” Galarian Rapidash was sent out, but Kimberly just laughed.
“Really?” She asked. “A Psychic-Type Pokemon against a Bug-Type Pokemon? Not to mention that your Rapidash is part Fairy, which is weak against Poison.
“I’m aware of that.” Said Joe. “But Psychic beats Poison! Rapidash, use Psycho Cut!” Galarian Rapidash tore at Dustox with blades formed by psychic power, leaving the Poison Moth Pokemon with a quarter of his HP.
“Dustox!” Said Kimberly. “Use Sludge Bomb!” Dustox hurled a gunk ball at Galarian Rapidash, leaving the Unique Horn Pokemon with a quarter of his HP.
“Rapidash!” Said Joe. “Use Psychic!” Galarian Rapidash attacked Dustox with a strong telekinetic force, and the Poison Moth fainted.
“I still have one more chance!” Said Kimberly, returning Dustox to his Poke Ball. “Go, Escavalier!” Escavalier was sent out, and she had a Focus Band tied to her right lance.
“That was great Rapidash!” Said Joe, returning the Unique Horn Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Talonflame!” Talonflame was sent out.
“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flare Blitz!” Talonflame lit herself on fire and crashed into Escavalier, which not only dealt serious damage to the Cavalry Pokemon, but also hurt Talonflame with recoil.
“Escavalier!” Said Kimberly. “Use Headbutt!” Escavalier charged towards Talonflame with her iron-clad helmet, dealing about 50 Hit Points to the Scorching Pokemon.
“Now’s your chance!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Escavalier, and the Cavalry Pokemon fainted.
“You have certainly done your training!” Said Kimberly, returning Escavalier to her Poke Ball. “Go choose who to fight next.” Joe returned Talonflame to her Poke Ball, healed his Pokemon, and entered the room with the boxing glove on the door.
