When Joe exited the Gym, he was greeted by Alex again.
“Alex?” Joe asked. “What are you doing here?”
“I know where Team Plasma’s new hideout is!” Answered Alex. “Though they haven’t finished building it yet. However, I do know it’s in Route….” Alex was cut off by a needle that caused him to faint. Shadow Triad #2 appeared right behind the unconscious boy with Parasect.
“You have beaten the previous Shadow Triad not too long ago.” He said. “While ST1 uses Dark-Type Pokemon, I use Ground-Type Pokemon. Go, Seismitoad!” Seismitoad was sent out.
“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Gogoat!” Gogoat was sent out.
“Seismitoad!” Said ST2. “Use Ice Punch!” Seismitoad slugged Gogoat with an icy fist, leaving the Mount Pokemon with half his HP.
“Gogoat!” Said Joe. “Use Horn Leech!” Gogoat drained Seismitoad’s energy with his horns, and the Vibration Pokémon fainted. It also restored some HP to Gogoat.
“Luckily, my next Pokemon doesn’t have as many weaknesses.” Said ST2, returning Seismitoad to his Poke Ball. “Go, Steelix!” Steelix was sent out.
“You did a great job, Gogoat!” Said Joe, returning the Mount Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Poliwrath!” Poliwrath was sent out.
“Poliwrath!” Said Joe. “Use Surf!” Poliwrath summoned a tidal wave that crashed into Steelix, leaving the Iron Snake Pokemon with 65% of her HP.
“Steelix!” Said Joe. “Use Thunder Fang!” Steelix bit at Poliwrath with electric fangs, leaving the Tadpole Pokemon with half his HP along with serious tooth marks.
“Poliwrath!” Said Joe. “Use Dynamic Punch!” Poliwrath delivered a powerful punch that not only left Steelix with a quarter of her HP, but also confused her.
“Steelix!” Said ST2. “Use Thunder Fang!” Steelix instead attacked herself by whacking herself with her mighty tail.
“Now’s your chance!” Said Joe. “Poliwrath, use Liquidation!” Poliwrath slammed into Steelix using a full-force blast of water, and the Iron Snake Pokemon fainted.
“I can’t believe you defeated Steelix!” Said ST2, returning the Iron Snake Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Gastrodon!” Chusonese Gastrodon was sent out.
“You deserve a rest, Poliwrath!” Said Joe, returning the Tadpole Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Delibird!” Delibird was sent out, but ST2 just laughed.
“Delibird?!” He asked. “You’re using a Delibird, when it can only learn Present and Drill Peck?! You gotta be out of your mind!”
“Delibird may have a bad movepool and poor stats,” Joe explained. “But it can learn many TMs. It’s also, aside from Articuno, the only Ice/Flying-Type Pokemon. Delibird, use Blizzard!” Delibird summoned a howling wind to attack Chusonese Gastrodon with, and the Sea Snail Pokemon fainted.
“You’re going through this faster than I thought.” Said ST2, returning Chusonese Gastrodon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Camerupt!” Camerupt was sent out, and he had a Focus Sash tied to his forehead.
“That was amazing, Delibird!” Said Joe, returning the Delivery Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Vaporeon!” Vaporeon was sent out.
“Vaporeon!” Said Joe. “Use Muddy Water!” Vaporeon shot lots of dirty water at Camerupt, leaving the Eruption Pokemon with one Hit Point.
“Camerupt!” Said ST2. “Use Body Slam!” Camerupt jumped into the air and crashed onto Vaporeon, leaving the Bubble Jet Pokemon with 70% of his HP.
“Vaporeon!” Said Joe. “Use Bubble Beam!” Vaporeon sprayed lots of bubbles at Camerupt, and the Eruption Pokemon fainted.
“This is getting bad.” Said ST2, returning Camerupt to his Poke Ball. “Go, Sandslash!” Sandslash was sent out.
“Vaporeon!” Said Joe. “Use Surf!” Vaporeon summoned a tidal wave that left Sandslash with a quarter of his HP.
“Sandslash!” Said ST2. “Use Crush Claw!” Sandslash charged over at Vaporeon and slashed at him with sharp claws, leaving the Bubble Jet Pokemon with a little over half of his HP left.
“Vaporeon!” Said Joe. “Use Aurora Beam!” Vaporeon fired a rainbow-colored beam at Sandslash that managed to knock him out.
“I still have one more chance!” Said ST2, returning the Mouse Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Claydol!” Claydol was sent out.
“You deserve a rest, Vaporeon!” Said Joe, returning the Bubble Jet Pokemon to his Poke Ball. “Go, Shiftry!” Shiftry was sent out.
“Shiftry!” Said Joe. “Use Leaf Blade!” Shiftry lashed at Claydol with her sharp leaves, leaving the Clay Doll Pokemon with 60% of its HP.
“Claydol!” Said ST2. “Use Ice Beam!” Claydoll fired an icy beam at Shiftry, leaving the Wicked Pokemon with half her HP.
“Shiftry!” Said Joe. “Use Payback!” Shiftry attacked Claydoll with all her might, and the Clay Doll Pokemon fainted.
“This is definitely not good!” Said ST2, returning Claydol to its Poke Ball. “I gotta warn Ghetsis!” As soon as ST2 ran off, Alex woke up from the coma.
“Is that you, Joseph?” He asked.
“In the flesh!” He replied.
“Good, because I have important news to tell you.” Alex explained. “Team Plasma has their hideout on Chuso’s Route 4, but don’t bother visiting them yet. Their castle is only a floor now, and Ghetsis is training in Galar. Guess you’ll have to go back to winning more badges.”
“That’s exactly what I’ll do!” Said Joe. “But first, I need to heal my Pokemon.” Joe went to the Pokemon Center to heal his Pokemon before facing the next Gym Leader.
