Joe's Adventure in Chuso Chapter 19

Joe entered the next room, and he encountered a familiar face: Molayne!

“Molayne?!” Asked Joe. “What are you doing here?”

“Similar to Plumeria,” Molayne began. “After Chuso mysteriously appeared, I heard about the Region hiring a new Elite Four Member. I gladly accepted the offer, caught some new Pokemon, packed my belongings, and moved to Chuso.”

“But aren’t you in charge of Alola’s PC storage system?” Asked Joe.

“Not anymore.” Replied Molayne. “That would be Professor Burnette. But enough chatter, let’s battle. Go, Magnezone!” Magnezone was sent out.

“I choose you!” Said Joe. “Quagsire!” Quagsire was sent out.

“Magnezone!” Said Tri Attack!” Magnezone struck Quagsire with a simultaneous three-beam attack, leaving the Water Fish Pokemon with 80% of her HP.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Earthquake!” Magnezone shook the floor violently, and the Magnet Area Pokemon fainted.

“Electric/Steel has its drawbacks.” Said Molayne, returning Magnezone to its Poke Ball. “Go, Ferrothorn!” Ferrothorn was sent out.

“Great as usual, Quagsire!” Said Joe, returning the Water Fish Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Talonflame!” Talonflame was sent out.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Ferrothorn, leaving the Thorn Pod Pokemon with a quarter of his HP.

“Ferrothorn!” Said Molayne. “Use Thunderbolt!” Ferrothorn summoned a lightning bolt that struck Talonflame and dealt serious damage.

“How can Ferrothorn learn Thunderbolt!” Joe asked.

“The same reason how Slowking can learn Flamethrower and how Tyranitar can learn Aerial Ace.” Replied Molayne.

“Touche.” Said Joe. “Talonflame, use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Ferrothorn, and the Thorn Pod Pokemon fainted.

“Luckily, my next Pokemon only has three weaknesses!” Said Molayne, returning Ferrothorn to his Poke Ball. “Go, Lucario!” Lucario was sent out.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Roost!” Talonflame rested on the ground and restored half her HP.

“Lucario!” Said Molayne. “Use Laser Focus!” Lucario concentrated intensely, making sure her next attack would be a critical hit.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Fire Blast!” Talonflame unleashed a spiral of fire at Lucario, leaving the Aura Pokemon with half her HP.

“Lucario!” Said Molayne. “Use Bone Rush!” Lucario struck Talonflame with her Rare Bone, leaving the Scorching Pokemon with 70% of her HP.

“How is that possible?!” Asked Joe. “Bone Rush is a Ground-Type move, and Flying-Type Pokemon are immune to Ground-Type attacks.”

“Normally.” Said Molayne. “But with the Iron Ball, Ground-Type attacks can damage Flying-Type Pokemon, which is useful since Flying has been mixed with every known Type.”

“Interesting.” Said Joe. “Talonflame, use Flare Blitz!” Talonflame lit herself on fire and crashed into Lucario, and the Aura Pokemon fainted. Talonflame also took damage from the recoil.

“Luckily, my next Pokemon has a Type combo that has never been discovered before!” Said Molayne, returning Lucario to her Poke Ball. “Go, Revavroom!" was sent out.

“You did a great job, Talonflame!” Said Joe, returning the Scorching Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Quagsire!” Quagsire was sent out.

“Revavroom!” Said Molayne. “Use Sludge Bomb!” Revavroom tried to fire a gunk ball at Quagsire, but luckily, the Water Fish Pokemon dodged the attack.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Earthquake!” Quagsire shook the ground violently, and the Multi-Cyl Pokemon fainted.

“Time to bring out the big guns!” Said Molayne, returning Revavroom to his Poke Ball. "Go, Steelix!" Steelix was sent out.

“Excellent as usual, Quagsire!” Said Joe, returning the Water Fish Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Talonflame!” Talonflame was sent out.

“Talonflame!” Said Joe. “Use Flamethrower!” Talonflame breathed very hot flames at Steelix, leaving the Iron Snake Pokemon with half his HP.

“Steelix!” Said Molayne. “Use Stone Edge!” Steelix fired sharp rocks at Talonflame, and the Scorching Pokemon fainted.

“You did your best, Talonflame!” Said Joe, returning the Scorching Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Quagsire!” Quagsire was sent out.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Mud Bomb!” Quagsire launched a hard-packed ball of mud at Steelix, and the Iron Snake Pokemon fainted.

“I still have one more chance!” Said Molayne, returning Steelix to his Poke Ball. “Go, Metagross!” Metagross was sent out.

“Metagross!” Said Molayne. “Use Brick Break!” Metagross slammed one of its legs into Quagsire, leaving the Water Fish Pokemon with 75% of her HP.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Earthquake!” Quagsire shook the ground violently, leaving the Iron Leg Pokemon with 75% of its HP.

“Metagross!” Said Molayne. “Use Giga Impact!” Metagross attacked Quagsire with all its might, leaving the Mud Fish Pokemon with 10% of her HP.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Yawn!” Quagsire let out a yawn, making Metagross drowsy. It was already exhausted after using Giga Impact, so the Iron Leg Pokemon fell asleep, anyway.

“Quagsire!” Said Joe. “Use Hydro Pump!” Quagsire fired lots of water at Metagross, leaving the Iron Leg Pokemon with 40% of its HP. However, this caused Metagross to wake up.

“Metagross!” Said Molayne. “Use Body Slam!” Metagross jumped into the air and slammed into Quagsire, making her faint.

“You did your best, Quagsire!” Said Joe, returning the Water Fish Pokemon to her Poke Ball. “Go, Skuntank!” Skuntank was sent out.

“Skuntank!” Said Joe. “Use Fire Blast!” Skuntank attacked Metagross with a spiral of fire, and the Iron Leg Pokemon fainted.

“This is unbelievable.” Said Molayne, returning Metagross to its Poke Ball. “You’ve beaten the four of us, already?”

“Yep.” Replied Joe, returning Skuntank to her Poke Ball.

“That just leaves one Trainer left, and that would be the Champion!” Said Molayne. “Head through the big door in the main hallway, and you’ll fight him.” Joe healed his Pokemon and headed to the next room.

Author's Notes: When a Pokemon holds an Iron Ball, it can attack Flying-Type Pokemon with Ground-Type attacks, which they're normally immune to. This is especially useful since Flying has been combined with every single Type, including those weak against Ground.
Rare Bones are Items in the Pokemon world that are often underground. However, much like the Gold Nugget and the Stardust, Rare Bones can be sold at a high price.
